Goldie, you do like your complex polls and questions don't you?
For me, the best action sequences came from
Episode III [the entire film was loaded with some pretty special action sequences, but nothing we hadn't really seen before]
War of the Worlds [the best action sequence in the year was easily the "arrival" in WOTW]
Mr and Mrs Smith [i think the gunfight at the end was one of the better things ive seen in an action movie ever]
Elektra [because Jennifer Garner knows her way around sais - too bad they all died as soon as she stabbed them]

War of the Worlds wasn't exactly packed with action scenes, but the ones it gave us were spectacular. In particular the set-piece at the intersection with the emergence of the tripod is one of the most amazing suspense/action sequences I've ever seen and easily dwarfs anything else this year. Spielberg is a master at this kind of stuff.
Unleashed also delivered the goods, with plenty of well choreographed and brutal fights and Kingdom of Heaven had one hell of a city seige.
Disappointments would be any of the hyped up action sequences from Revenge of the Sith. The opening space battle and light-sabre duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan come to mind.
The worst action was found in Transporter 2 and The Island.

I thought THE ISLAND had amazing action sequences, with the standout being the scene with Ewan and Scarlett holding onto the huge, swinging sign. Amazing.
I was disappointed by FANTASTIC FOUR's action. Such great superpowers at their disposable and not one moment was inspired or fascinating or exciting.

I thought that both the island and F4 had ups and downs.
On F4, the bridge scene was good, the rocket scene was very good and I didn't like the ending scene.

WotW has a few memorable scenes
Island had some pretty damn good ones
BB's end was very exciting
Probably would have to give it to RotS at the end of it though, I mean the action and special effect is what made the movie, it would suck if you just leave the story and acting.
Constantine's action bored me the most, I would say Kingdom of Heaven but that had some nice scenes in it, it's just the rest of the movie that bored me.

By far Sith, but WotW a good healthy second
Killuminati510 I must protest in saying the storyline "sucked", for I felt it was complex in its own formation and specting from, yes if you view it lightly then yes it is rather simplisistic, as most civilians do, but those who dig into the humane emothions, appeal and conflict, there is no possible standing point to agrue against this.
To say the storyline is weak, then you would say MacBeth contained a weak storyline, for both ustilize the same storyline, so you are basically saying Shakespseare was a terrible writer, not implying that Lucas could write great dialogue midn yuou, but you should understand my reasonings.

How deep do you want me to dig to find the true meaning of the plot? Cause man im digging so much I must be down to hell by now
Comparing Shakespseare to the screenplay of RotS is pushing it a bit dont you think?

When I compare to MacBeth, it is not in dialogue, but in pure story, and the complexity forms in the decision of "do I face my own brother in battle, true it is the just cause, but surely there is another way, but do I wait here and give it chance" now don't say that decision isn't a simple one.

in seeing the tv commercial for KONG, I hope Kong is so good that it goes to the top of my list!!!
****************************
EDIT based on something I just saw
****************************
the following copied from xiayun in another thread
***********************************
Definitely (and probable win)
Visual effects (may as well give Kong this award now)
Sound effects editing (utterly amazing)
Sound
Probable nominations
Art Direction (30's New York at its most romanticized and an amazingly otherworldly Skull Island)
Make up (creepy Skull Island natives)
Costume (period costumes)
Score
Maybe's:
Cinematography (utterly beautiful but digital grading may hurt its chances?)
Best Actress
Anyway, those looking forward to this have nothing to worry about. "Kong" delivers and in spades. This movie will be BIG!

Really? I barely remember the film's action sequences -- in fact, I remember actually being bored by them. And my vote goes to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Anakin vs. Obi-Wan rules all.

DEFINITELY ROTS since I've seen KONG now and while both feature there share of action, SITH takes it with the amount of battles going on while KONG has action spread out with more Melodrama taking center stage.. Both are good, but SITH wins by a landslide.. It doesn't surprise me though that KONG has 40% and voted by folks who haven't even seen the movie cause it's associated with Jackson.. Nice..

YES, I've seen it.. Have you?? Apparently not, but believe what you want.. I've seen the movie and it's good, but not this gushingly great and it's only a matter of time before you see it and realize this, but then again, your a ######## LOTR/Jackson fan, so it's gonna be shocking if you honestly give this movie anything under an "A".. Hell, I'll admit, several months back, I said this would suck, but after seeing it, I gave it a "C+" and admit it's better than what I thought it would be, but that's not enough for some folks...
