Wow, color me extremely impressed by Lion's Gate Films marketing department. What a memorable image, it fits perfectly with the plot of the film for anyone that knows it, and anyone that doesn't will surely want to know what the storyline is.

Wow! That looks really interesting. That poster really intrigued me. Now I really want to know what it is about. Just by staring at it I would guess it is a horror movie.

Plot:

Man who is like 30 meets girl online.

Girl is 14.

They go out, she refuses to drink unless she prepares the drink.

She makes a drink for the guy.

Guy passes out.

She tortures him (for some reason I don't know).

That sounds vaguely like that Audition movie or whatever it's called.

The poster looks great to me. Very creepy.

The reason why the girl tortures him is apparently because the guy kidnapped and tortured her friend. That's what I read.

So basically it's just another movie where people torture people the whole time.

Meh, I'll pass. I'm getting sick of Lions Gate's fascination with torture movies with no plot! Saw, Saw II, Hostel, and now this.... meh.

The first Saw was not too bad though. I'd give it C+. The thing that dragged that movie down was the ridiculous, laugh out loud acting! Terrrrible. The plot wasn't a masterpiece or anything, but I found it quite interesting/creative nonetheless. Now this torture idea is just getting out of hand.

PEACE, Mike.

Ummm...that's the premise of the movie at ComingSoon, man. Hardly a secret.

What Scream did to slashers, is what Saw did to...um...torture flicks.

Post Trailer...
Saw the (teaser) trailer on "Hostel"...it grabs you and doesn't let go. If LGF gives "Hard Candy" a modest release, I could see it going places.
Hostel was pretty good too...ridiculous...but highly entertaining.

Now I have a slight interest to see the film. The poster really didn't do anything for me, but if that's the plot I might just have to go see it. Nice little twist on the whole "revenge" element.

Mild spoilers if you haven't read Dr. Lecter's post for whatever reason: I think there's more to it though. It sounds like he didn't actually do it, or at least he said that he didn't.

Hmmm.. After looking at the kid standing on the steal trap, I'm getting a sort of Pedophile torture feel for this movie which may not go over to well at all.. :-k

Lionsgate has the torture sub-genre cornered, or so it seems. Not very admirable if you ask me but they don't care. They just want to make money, no matter how.

By the way, Hard Candy premiered last January at Sundance, so it was finished with filming by the time Saw had been released.

Poster is brilliant. Trailer is decent, nothing special, but it does intrigue me.

I actually hated Audition. One of the most over rated films I've ever seen. But this looks intriguing.

Really like the poster, the trailer left me unimpressed though. I'll probably still see it, interesting premise.
