Re: WORLD OF KJ'S 100 GREATEST MOVIES: COMPLETE!
CALLING ATTENTION!!!
First, many thanks to Box for organizing this top 100 thread and list. Watching the list unfold was very exciting, although maddening at times.
However, this list was made taking a limited amount of movies that were selected previously. I would be interested in also doing a list, but with no restrictions. Any movie can be voted for.
I'm sure many people had movies that would have been in their top 100, that they couldn't even vote for.
For such a list I would say the rating system should be 1 point per movie, and in case of a tie, the best average of placements will determine who's in front.
So, is anyone interested in that list, or is it too similar and too soon?

BTW, anybody interested in doing a "KJ's 100 Greatest Performances" list? I could organize it if people feel it's something we could explore.

Im afraid my list would be dominated by men.
I don't see many movies with strong female performances in them.
Too many guy flicks.

Great work Box. Many thanks for doing this.
Overall, a satisfying but rather predictable list. I guess it was rather obvious that a LOTR would take top spot, but I hoped FOTR would be it.
Disappointed in the lack of Donnie Darko, The Thing, Blade Runner, 12 Monkeys. Oh well.

Too many guy flicks. Understandable. But I expect a lot of outstanding female performances will be remembered overall, and sometimes they tend to be even more iconic.

Well, I'd like to do it similarly to what Box had: come up with a preliminary list first using various sources, then allow people to nominate their candidates and see which gather 5 or more votes to form the final nomination list. The ones I found so far are from http://www.drskantze.com/movies/ and Premiere.

HOW IN THE BALLS does Unbreakable make it onto this list? I hate life. Haha, I'm with you. But if Speed is better than North by Northwest, then Return of the Krap can easily be the best movie of all time. It's probably a matter of expectations: I expected a laughable list and got a laughable list, so I'm not disappointed at all.

Kill Bill: Vol. 1 is better then Vertigo my foot. Who ever agrees most definitely did not see Vertigo.

Maybe if we would've gotten more people to vote the list would've been more ecclectic...
But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, people were too damn lazy to vote.

I could see it being dominated by Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise performances. Premier Magazine came up with a list a couple of years back, with the Top 100 ranked in order, and 101-200 listed alphabetically. That could be our starter list. And then I suppose we could add all other Oscar noms and have a self nomination list like we did for movies.
