Re: WORLD OF KJ'S 100 GREATEST MOVIES: COMPLETE!
3 years ago my top ten included spiderman 2, X-men 2 and Hp3. Now it's The Godfather The Shawshank Redemption The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring Lawrence Of Arabia Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back Vertigo 12 Angry Men The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King The Godfather Part II Schindler's List i tell you , watch those essentials films and your opinion on films will change. Also don't watch Kubrick before watching a new film in theaters. You really hate the film you watch in theaters then.

I wish more people voted. 35 voters after six weeks of campaigning is disappointing.

Just got back from Santa Cruz. Thoughts coming up, but first: WHAT A GREAT F****** JOB YOU DID, BOX!!!!! And I was actually surprised to see a number of deserving classics as high as they are.

nice to see you young folks still pay homage to the classics. i was quite scared that American beauty, and Children of men would be in the top ten.

Re: WORLD OF KJ'S 100 GREATEST MOVIES: COMPLETE!
The apotheosis of the LotR series is incredibly frustrating. So most of the most profound films and filmmakers are left off the list for blockbusters. Really surprising. I suppose that's what happens when you let people without much knowledge about, yknow, actual film, vote. Not that I'm the expert. Hell nooo. But seriously... why bother with these lists? It's futile. None of this is box's fault of course. He is flawless.

Re: WORLD OF KJ'S 100 GREATEST MOVIES: COMPLETE!
I wonder how different the list would look if we looked at only people's top twenties and ignored their 21-100. Probably The Matrix, Jaws, Titanic, and The Silence of the Lambs would be a lot lower, and then Before Sunset and City Lights would be even higher.
btw, I noticed that of the 94 films that WOKJ users voted to add to the original ballot of AFI/IMDB films, the only ones to make it onto the Top 100 are:
Aladdin Edward Scissorhands Face/Off Garden State King Kong (2005) Minority Report Monsters Inc Office Space Scream Speed The Lion King The Nightmare Before Christmas The Truman Show The Untouchables Unbreakable Who Framed Roger Rabbit X2: X-Men United
Anybody care to make comparisons as to which of our films also made the AFI and IMDB Top 100 lists?

Re: WORLD OF KJ'S 100 GREATEST MOVIES: COMPLETE!
1 The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King - expected, and No. 2 on my list 2 Raiders Of The Lost Ark - glad to see it this high; thought LOTR would be 1 and 2, so great to have a film in my top 10 sneak in 3 The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring - understandable, right on the edge of my top 20, but I left it off to push other films 4 The Godfather - lovely, was afraid it's not going to get into top 10, let alone top 5; definitely deserving of its place in film history and any best of all time polls; got even better for me as its impact sunk in 5 The Shawshank Redemption - one of those films that may not be the best in any area, but does each aspect so well 6 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back - good position; surprised it wasn't in the top 5 7 The Matrix - had it lower, but understand why it's here and won't complain 8 Jurassic Park - the biggest surprise and my biggest complaint in the top 10; thought it would be a film that's on many lists but not enough high votes 9 Pulp Fiction - expected and in my top 5 10 American Beauty - expected and in my top 5 11 Star Wars - well-placed position 12 Forrest Gump - 1994 was so good 13 Jaws - not in my top 20 but no complaint 14 Schindler's List - deserved 15 Terminator 2: Judgment Day - see Jaws 16 Se7en - more love at KJ than I realized 17 Casablanca - Best surprise of the top 20; the film is so quotable and got better every time I watched it, really timeless 18 The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers - the weakest one of the trilogy, and wish it would've been in the mid-50 range 19 The Silence Of The Lambs - 20 The Lion King - one of Disney's best and I know it's a childhood favorite for a lot of us From 21 - 50: Big for Psycho, Before Sunset, Dr. Strangelove, Singin' In the Rain, Memento, 12 Angry Men, and The Usual Suspects. Biggest surprise: Citizen Kane cracks top 50. This certainly dispels the notion that it's not liked by people outside AFI or critics community. And Pan's Labyrinth being as high as it is. As for Gladiator, I wouldn't have it in my top 200, but not surprised to see it placed so high. From 51 - 100: I'm happy that a lot of recent films which are loved at KJ are placed in the lower half instead of the upper. No real head-scratchers except for maybe Scream, but only initially. The one real gripe is Rear Window, which should've been much closer to Psycho in ranking, and any of the choices between 101 and 110 is better than Unbreakable.

Great job Box! And horrible job voters!
Like seriously, all you LotR fanboys can't even figure out which is the best of your stupid trilogy (FotR, which is the only one that works as a coherent film)

The #1 didn't even make my top 100. And of my top 20 8 (including my #1) didn't even make the list. Except Raiders everything went lower than I had it. 1. Blade Runner 2. Citizen Kane 3.
