Lets think Tatum O'Neil here for a minute and think what happens to people that peak that early on in their careers. well yeah, but look a Drew Barrymore, im not comparing them in their acting, but Drew started very young and shes still doing pretty good! that doesnt happend to everyone But is Drew a 'great' actress? Can she compare to Nicole Kidman or CAte Blanchett?
of course shes not one of the greats, leave Nicole and Cate out of this, im just saying, not all young actors will finish like Tatum O'Neil, thats all

As for the Garner situation... I liked 13 Going on 30 a lot.... Garner was excellent in it, the best performance she's given on film IMO. But, I don't know if she'll be a "big" actress, it would be great though.
I agree; and i know from listening to girls conversations on buses that many "normal movie going" people also thought her performance was amazing; it was the central focus of all reviews and i am wholy pleased that she made a OK movie into a Really good one. She really threw herself into it; and Garner has a big future in Romantic Comedies even if for some reason she cant do action or drama any more.
I also really see Scarlett doing very well for herself over the years; Natalie Portman has alot more male support than from girls; and girls ultimately have a massive amount of deciding power when it comes to making stars in Hollywood - which is why opinons about actresses and actors on KJ should be taken with a pinch of salt. Chicks are the ones who buy the magazines, watch the gossip tv shows, and really fuel the stars they want to fuel.
In terms of Hollywood Actress Star Charisma - said Garner comes out on top of these actresses; but you know how bias i am about that so....but i dont want to have her babies for nothing! Theres alot of "Hot" actresses out there right now, but not many who are already holding $50m+ grosses [and $60m+ dvd rentals] completely on their own backs - for a girl whos only been on the scene for 3/4 years and can only do one movie a year - shes doing very well; opposite a strong male star shes a surefire hit. Which is why its disspointing that shes been placed opposite Timothy Olyphant in "Catch and Release" who is yet another barely known star [on an even lesser level to Mark Ruffalo].
Thats another reason people complain shes overexposed - whenever she does a movie theres alot of pressure there because she is limited to one project a year.
P.S Garner is directing an episode of "Alias" soon *swoons*
PPS - Hillary Swank is a rising star that could become VERY bright if she continues the way shes going.

You've got to feel a little sorry for an actress who's won the Best Actress Oscar twice and is still thought of by some as a "rising star".

It is true though, people dont go to a film to see Hillary Swank ; thats her own doing for chosing projects with powerful costars or directors.
That also kind of relates to my theory that Jennifer Garner may be overexposed becuase she choses roles where shes the sole lead ; Swanks doing the direct opposite and underselling herself to audiences. They are both veryyyy hot

Hmmm...still no votes for Kirsten Dunst. That's surprising. And no votes for Michelle Williams or Kimberly Elise which isn't surprising. Both actresses are quietly working on some impressive work. I think Williams will have a critical breakout with Brokeback Mt. And Elise is currently in Diary Of A Mad Black Woman. She's also been in Beloved, John Q., and The Manchurian Candidate.

I think Kirsten Dunst, Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson are already established enough that most people know who they are, so it's not like they're not breakout stars yet (well, maybe not Johansson).
I've never thought Keira Knightley was all that talented. She was good in Pirates of the Caribbean, but the role wasn't that difficult. I found her mediocre in Bend It Like Beckham, and her role in Love Actually was too small to judge.
I think the next actress waiting for "breakout" status would be Rachel McAdams. Despite the fact that Mean Girls and The Notebook both reached over $80M, she's not yet a household name. However, her three movies this year (Red Eye, Wedding Crashers and The Family Stone) may change that.

John Hinkley, the man hwo killed the president (i think JFK? Sry my knowledge of US history is horrible), well he killed him bc he thought that if he was famous, then Jodie Foster would like him. He kind of stlaked her at school and talked to her once or soemthing, but she ignored him... i'm not too knowledgeable on the specifics. But he met her, nothing happened, but he thought she would love him if he was famous, so he shot the president. Know.. crap i should research this before posting. I don't know if he was successful in the assassination. Damn. box had an article on this. but yeah. It was Regan then. John Wilkes Boothe shot JFK.
Heh, actually, Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK. John Wilkes Boothe assassinated Lincoln.

Bryce Dallas Howard
Almost universally, the one thing that people can agree on about the Village, is that Bryce was excellent.

Good one Libs: Rachel McAdams.
She wasn't the marquee star in Mean Girls and was actually pretty pale in that film on the whole ; but The Notebook was exceptional and Red Eye & The Wedding Crashers will be two really good movies.

I agree Libs, but just because people know who you are doesn't mean you are the next 'great actress'. Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger were both quite well-known before they reached the level of critical fame they've recently experienced. I think all three of these actress (and Rachel McAdams) will be top actresses of their generation someday.

The actresses who will make their marks and can be dominate figures the next 10 years:
1. Kate Winslet - she isn't even 30 yet. I saw people were mentioning Leonardo DiCaprio in the next Great Actor thread, and Kate is younger and has such a impressive resume performance-wise that people seem to already consider her as someone pretty old. She can end up as the greatest actress of my generation and will get oscar nominations as often as Meryl Streep did.
2. Zhang Ziyi - The next global star who has shown very good acting range in her portfolio of movies. Gong Li helped to bring Chinese cinema to the world audience, and Ziyi can build on that and take it, along with herself, to the next level.
3. Natalie Portman - The two movies last year really opened my eyes and showcased her skills. She will be around.

She's already one of the greats. Isn't she only about 30?
