Why exactly are people who don't think the crapfest will get tons of money crazy?
Couldn't the same be said of you because you think that Ep3 will make tons of money despite declining box office, bad reviews for the previous movies, poor WOM for the franchise (the Ep1-Ep3 franchise, not the Ep4-Ep6 as they are from a separate time). Here i was using actual numbers and facts as opposed to "this is the last one so it is going to make a gajillion dollars", "it has darth vader so it is going to make a gajillion dollars", etc and that makes ME crazy?

Hey look, it may make you crazy, but EPISODE III WILL be the real EPISODE I, What folks wanted EPISODE I to be and wasn't... Folks wanted to see all the OT Characters in EPISODE I that made the Old Trilogy so good and it wasn't there... Instead, we got Jar Jar Binks who surprisingly has been absent from the trailer and probably will be with the new one and I can't inagine this not making at least what CLONES did and if anything, it can't be any worse than that and can only be better...

Look, I am not denying that it will be a hit. There are too many fans who are waiting anxiously to see this. It'll make a ton of money.
What it won't do is make more than Clones. It's a diminishing fanchise, like the Matrix and Star Trek. Each film does less than the previous. And that's why I say it won't make the top 5 unless something extraordinary happens, like all other big films being released this year bomb. In other words, even if it does make the top 5, I pedict that it will be with a take less than what Clones made.

What facts? Only thing you're right is about box office decline, and that already happened with The Empire Strikes Back.
Bad reviews? Sure, almost every movie have some, TPM 62% (88/54) on RT, AOTC 64% (125/69), majority of critics didn't gave bad reviews to them. And what poor WOM? TPM had 6.7x multiplier, AOTC almost 4x. If that's poor wom, then what WOM have majority of movies these days? Compared to Ep.4-Ep.6 multis, ofcourse it's bad, but it's quite silly to compare that. In these times only Titanic and MBFGW, from more known movies, had that kind of WOM.
Hate all you want movies, but don't bring 'facts' that are not facts.

Jumping back in feet first:
I hope that SWIII does indeed blow away my expectations, and my lackluster response to Ep I & II. However, I don't think it will unless Natalie Portman discovers she can act this character and grows some chemistry with the guy who plays Anakin.
To make more money then AotC, it will have to be better, and I'm not talking about special effects or whiz bang battle scenes. (Lucas has those covered.) I'm talking about characters that draw me in the way Han, Leia, Luke and Alec Guiness' Obi Wan did, and humor that isn't forced and contrived the way Jar Jar is. In other words, Star Wars has to get back it's original spirit, which appealed to the child at heart, instead of pandering to six year olds with all the finesse of a sledge hammer.
Ep II will doubtless score some points just because it concludes the story. Here's hoping that Lucas can pull some surprises out of a story that we already know the outcome.
I think that GL will be battling his old friend Stephen Spielberg for supremacy this summer. (With Madagascar potentially also in the mix along with Batman.) My money is currently on War of the Worlds for the Summer box office title.

Hey, welcome cujoy.
Someone else to agree with me about Pirates 2 breaking all records. Well, I'd hope at least as you often refer to yourself as an Orlando fangirl.

Hey Mav! Thanks for the welcome. I missed you all.
Hey DP07! Pirates 2 is going to rock hard. Can't wait for 2006. I'll let you know if my Orlando fangirl status survives Kingdom of Heaven. \:D/ (And also if my Johnny Depp fangirl status survives Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It's looking iffy. :???: )
