I bet this is bullshit. They already told they won't shoot in 3D and at this year's Comic-Con PJ was asked whether a 3rd bridge film is a possibility to which he said no.

Re: Hobbit Thread (3 Films!!!, In 3D!!!, With PJ Directing 1!!!)
I don't particularly care for this news. I was sort of alright with the idea of doing The Hobbit and the bridge film, probably more comfortable with just having a two-part Hobbit film since it seems a little shaky to extrapolate a whole film from supplemental material, but this is just....a bit much. It doesn't give me much hope that PJ has learned to trim the fat. With LOTR I'd say it was necessary, but it wasn't with King Kong and doesn't seem to be justified with this either.

New Line and WB are still one company, right? I ask because they have sooo many franchises making billions for them.
cough up another 2 billions + another billion from lotr-3d.

This is so highly unfucking necessary for such a simplistic story that's not as complicated as the LOTR Trilogy that could get away with this.. Loyal, do you support any of this considering how big a fan you are to anything and everything that is Peter Jackson/LOTR???

This is great news. Love it! I'd be happy for Hobbit to be one film and the bridge film the other but bring on 3!

Re: Hobbit Thread (3 Films!!!, In 3D!!!, With PJ Directing 1!!!)
I don't remember a lot from the Hobbit as it's been a while since I read it, but I know it's the only LOTR-related book that I've actually gotten the entire way through, and quite easily at that. From what I can remember, I suppose I could see where one could split it in two... And the idea of a bridge movie is rather nice; since it's from supplemental material... does that mean it'll be from the Silmarillion (sp?). I'm always seeing fanart on DeviantArt that's from the Silmarillion (sp?), and a lot of the descriptions make it sound quite intriguing. I've not read it yet, but I'd like to, except I'm afraid it'll be as dry as LOTR (never made it past Rivendell in FOTR the first time I tried reading; didn't make it past page 5 the second time).

Three films? What shit.
Thank goodness I lost interest in LOTR six years ago.

Re: Hobbit Thread (3 Films!!!, In 3D!!!, With PJ Directing 1!!!)
Quote: Next up is the rumored 3 movie talk that hit the dad gum internets today. My good buddy and passionate 3-D connoisseur Jim Dorey over at Marketsaw, has a source who had this to say about the possibility of The Hobbit being stretched out over 3 movies: Im hearing word "and its only speculation at the moment", that it wont be two films. It will be three. The two parts and the bridge movie. Word alone is not trustworthy. However I hear this from lots of people. And have seen things to indicate this may be the way it is heading. Del Toro on Hobbit duty, Jackson on the bridge project. Time will tell." Click HERE to read the rest. We wanted to find out from the man himself about this possible 3 movie rumor. So we did what any movie website would do. We e-mailed him. Here's Guillermo's response: Hola!!
All speculation, really and some of it quite wild (we are not even touching Gollum's design) and inventive.

well the report itself says "Im hearing word "and its only speculation at the moment."
G just confirmed that its speculation. Didn't say it was not true.

Not only that, but Peter Jackson further announced today that each film will be viewable from the perspective of each of the 5 lead characters: Bilbo, Thorin, Gollum, Smaug, and Gandalf - - resulting in The Hobbit offering viewers an unprecedented 95 POV options!!! MGM has officially booked 100% of theatres worldwide for an exclusive three month viewing window in 2011. Local theatres are expected to announce package prices for those sensible ringnuts looking to save some serious coin by reserving early. Screenings will be identified by the Chapter # (1-19) and the character POV (Bil, Tho, Gol, Sma, or Gan) - - e.g. "15Tho" or "2Sma". Marathon residential screening camps are also expected to be announced soon! Be the first in your cadre to sign-up for the full experience of JACKSOBBIT2011...
