No, they couldnt. Piracy is piracy. It's fucking awful.
Says the person that said music piracy doesn't bother them.
BTW - That's the single most ridiculous "comparison" i've ever heard. While were at it, let's compare murder with urinating in public. I mean, they're both illegal!

The comparison is on the same level of importance to me. Hence why i chose that comparison.
And yes, music piracy doesnt bother me. So what. All piracy is wrong, but i care about movies alot more than i do about music, so i dont care about music piracy.

Yeh but were fans and claw for every glimpse we can get. I understand if you want to take the moral high ground algren, though I am supprised to hear that coming from you, but I feel the need to provide the pictures to all those other people. The people who try and find out what there loved one is getting them as a gift, the people who sneak down and take a peak at the presents christmas morning, the people everywhere who live for the anticipation just as much as the final product.
So there they be, and I will always try and give whatever I can!

well, i'm pretty anti-piracy - because if you watch a film without paying, that's theft. so i agree with you in that respect. i'm not *hugely* picky over morals, but i *do* believe people should at the very least be consistent. i get a tiny bit annoyed with people who would never dream of shoplifting a DVD, but who would happily download and watch the same movie, because there's less chance of getting in trouble, and because it doesn't *feel* like you're actually stealing - even though it sort of amounts to the same crime.
on the other hand, i've got a little bit lax of late, and find myself with one or two naughty mp3s...
anyway - if it's any consolation, in this instance, lucas will actually *make* money - because, having seen the stills, i've decided to see the film, which i was otherwise going to avoid like the plague
in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of leakages were in fact deliberate publicity ploys. when some stills are posted, only to be taken down again (e.g., like the start of this thread), it creates a lot of curiousity in people (e.g., me!) who didn't get chance to see them, and who suddenly want to, even if they weren't bothered about the film to begin with...

Whatever, each to there own......but i'm a snitch where movie-piracy is concerned.
That line alone should identify howi feel on the subject.

heh. good analogy as far as piracy goes, a few stills out of - what? about a gajillion zillion frames? - is no biggie. you're stealing a glimpse of something, not the thing itself.

There is no such thing as bad publicity.
It isn't Lucas, it's people at 20th Century Fox, I believe. They threatened the same thing with ATOC. Ever hear of anybody being sued? Have you ever seen websites stopping the posting of pictures and such? All they can do is tell people to take them down. Nobody is selling his merchandice or property. If they are really that concerned about it, then why are these pictures so easy to get?

Well, until they take care of business in their own backyard, they really shouldn't be looking in ours. If it bothers you that much, go watch Tango and Cash or something. That'll make it all better for awhile. \:D/

Well, since I'll be paying to see it multiple times, and I'll be buying the DVD the second it goes on sale, it's not bothering me to see some pictures before I shelled out a lot money to make them richer than they already are. They can cry me a river if they don't like it. It's not like I stealing it so I don't have to pay for it.

Well, there is a part of me that does agree with what your saying.. Personally, I think Lucasfilm LTD has shown us too many pics and practically to the point where I feel like I've seen the damn movie already without even seeing it yet before it's released.. It's almost like George is releasing so many pics in an effort to assure himself the fanbase enjoys this movie more than the last 2.. Come on George, don't cave into fanboy peer pressure and over spoil your movie.. Leave some things a surprise huh??

Knowing what happens has never once ruined a movie for me. If I didn't like spoilers, it's soooo easy not to look. George would probably tell anybody who didn't want to know, that all they have to do is avoid reading about it.
In the case of EP III, we all know what's going to happen anyway. We've known for over 20 years.

Well we know what happens, I just don't want to see every pic that shows HOW it happened.. I'd love to have at least a smidgen of a surprise left before seeing this movie without really seeing it all in still pics..

It's all fine and well you saying "don't look", Mav, but these pictures shouldn't be around for us to look at anyway. You would enjoy the movie ALOT more if you hadn't had seen 'picture x'.....i bet you.

I'll bet you I wouldn't. It has never once affected my enjoyment, and the times I watched a movie without knowing, there was no significant enjoyment factor. Part of the enjoyment I get out of movies that I really like, is the anticipation and speculation. For months and months, I get to be excited about seeing little tidbits like this one, instead of not talking about it or having my appetite wet, and only getting to get a thrill by the movie itself. The movie's gonna thrill me, and so is all of the stuff leading up to it. It doesn't get any better than that.
These pictures are around for those who want to look, like myself. All you have to show is self control, and I have no idea why you believe that these pictures shouldn't be around because YOU, who is NOT a Star Wars fan, doesn't think they should be. Just don't look. It is really as easy as that.

*sighs*
Well, the point is you wouldnt even know if it affected your enjoyment because it is impossible for you to do both, in order to compare. But i think that if you went to see a film without seeing "illegal" or "pirate" material beforehand you would be so much more 'wow'ed than if you did see this stuff, especially on an effects driven film like Star Wars III.

How is this any different that the official artwork or storybooks that will released in bookstores before Sith? I buy them and it doesn't change anything for me. Or is the leak what offends you?

I have done both. I have seen movies without a clue about anything concerning them, and it's no different than knowing. Actually , it's not as exciting. Think I'm wrong? Just compare the excitement level of LOTR fans who had read the books, and knew the story, and compare that to the casual moviegoer. The fanatical fan will always enjoy themselves more. We know how to enjoy the whole experience. You should try it sometime instead of bitching about those who are having a blast. :-$

Well i thought that was obvious.
Seeing as though every post i make has the word "piracy" in it. I do not mind marketing, that is cool, and allowed, but leaking the pictures is what i am annoyed about.
