1999 was freakishly good for movies.

The Matrix, The Sixth Sense, The Straight Story, Magnolia, American Beauty, Fight Club, Boy's Don't Cry, Being John Malkovich, The Green Mile, The Insider, The Cider House Rules... I wonder if there'll ever be another year like it again.

Another comedy classic, a real gangster classic, and the one of the best movies of the 70's. Sweeeeeet!

But, Bedazzled? It was okay, at best.

I think Bedazzled is vastly underrated. It has some of my favorite scenes... I love Fraser's "sensitive guy" (the dolphin song is bitchin'), his Mexican cocaine lord (especially when he discovers he can speak Spanish), the basketball dude, Orlando Jones's basketball commentary, and Elizabeth Hurly in every outfit from a nurse, meter maid, sexy school teacher, etc... What more could you want in a movie?

It's definitely worth the rent, I say.

I like movies that play with the concept of a character discovering an alternate reality such as Dark City, Matrix, and Truman Show.
