Flightplan- C
It was suspensful and fun at first but then it stumbles in the preposterous third act.

Fun in the same way The 40 Year-Old Virgin was. Lots of little laughs with a couple big ones thrown in. Don't go in expecting Ace Ventura or Bruce Almighty. Big question: Does it completely far apart at the end and get cheesy and sappy like 95% of comedies like it? That's the big thing worrying me about it.
Without really ruining anything, it has a happy ending. It's not Adam Sandler sugary, and it fits the storyline.

Kung Fu Hustle- B+
It was really entertaining. The fighting sequences were amazing, and I thought the visuals were really awesome. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

Syriana - C-/D+
More like Syrisucka! It was sooo slow. I couldnt follow the story at all. It was soo boring that i was counting how many times the little black dots on the top right appeared.
But it was politics. Some people loved it. I'm not into politics.

Deuce Bigalow: European Gigalow - C+
Meh, not that bad. The first was better for sure though. Norm Macdonald, while he had the funniest scene in the first, he was kind've wasted in this one. Schnieder had a bit lesser laughs than he should've had.

Broken Lizard's Puddle Cruiser - A+
Oh. My. God. When I brought this film home, I had this gut feeling that it might end up like Golddiggers meaning D- or F and one of the worst films of the year.
What I got instead wasn't just a good movie, it wasn't just a great movie. It was an amazing movie. I won't explain it right now, I suppose I'll get into it more when the thread comes up in the Critics section. But I can say that it's the #1 film of 2005 thus far for me, by far.

A History Of Violence - B
this got a really bad rep from my school. I thought it was good, but overall, pointless. The shootings were all good, bloody, and violent, but the rest was kinda silly.

Just Friends - C-
Not my kind of comedy. Way over the top. The jokes weren't intelligent and fell flat. Why kept using the dumb easy laugh of man getting hit on the groin or person slipping on the floor? Nothing inventive. The production value is quite low too.
Aeon Flux - D
What a stupid and uninvolving plot. The technical design was solid though.

American Pie Presents: Band Camp B
Better than it had any right to be. Actually maintains some of the heart of the previous three, which I figured would be the obvious casuality in the move to direct-to-video.

City of God - B/B+
What a brutal movie. Some scenes just made me cringe. I'm glad it's a rental because that's hard to re-watch. Very gripping, but a few parts feel monotonous.

The best movie of the year and an A+? Umm, okay .
This morning:
PRETTY PERSUASION - 8/10 (B+)
A wickedly funny film! Evan Rachel Wood gives one of the best female performances of the year. She's great!
