38Anchorman (2004) The funniest movie ever made. Notice I didn't say "best comedy" though. The incredibly corny ending prevents it from being that. However, it doesnt prevent it from being so damn hilarious. Just an insane movie, and possibly the most quotable movie of all time. Will Ferrel is, as usual, perfect for the role he plays, but in many scenes he is outshined by the tragically underrated Paul Rudd. I have never laughed as hard in my life as I did when I first saw this movie. Favorite Scene: Discussing the fight Favorite Line: Brick, I've been meaning to tell you. You should probably lay low for a while, find a safehouse, cause you're probably wanted for murder.

37Kingpin (1996) While not as funny as Anchorman, what this movie minimally lacks in humor it makes up for by being sweet. Woody Harrelson plays a former bowler, Roy Munson, down in the dumps several years after he lost his hand because of trying to "scam" gamblers out of their money. He then finds an Amish man, played by Randy Quaid, who he thinks has potential to get to the top and spends his time training him for a million dollar tournament in Reno. Hijinks ensue. Hilarious and touching, Kingpin hits all the right notes. Bill Murray also finds himself in the usual position of stealing any scene he is in as a former rival bowler of Roy. Favorite Scene: Showdown for 1,000,000 dollars.

36Fight Club (1999) Funny and cool with a fantastic last shot. (yeah, that's all I got) Favorite Scene: You met me at a strange time in my life

35Schindler's List (1993) A heartbreaking film by Steven Spielburg with excellent performances from all involved. How hard did I cry? Sure wasn't easy.

34Donnie Darko (2001) A puzzler of a film, which oddly enough gets more puzzling with the director's cut, even though the director's cut tries to explain everything... Yeah, the original cut is better, and is excellent. If it wasn't for a former friend of mine, I would never have seen this movie (or Memento... at least he was good for something). I thought it looked stupid, but it turned out fo be great. A great soundtrack and a compelling story. Favorite Scene: It's a mad world How hard did I cry? I lost it several times, particularly on repeat viewings after I knew what would happen.

33Gattaca (1997) I have no idea how I came to see this movie, but I certainly wasn't expecting it. If I didn't stumble upon it, the movie may have remained lost to me forever. I'm glad I saw it. It really is quite an extraordinary movie about reaching beyond your grasp and accomplishing something they say you can't. This is sci-fi at its best. Favorite Scene: Swimming How hard did I cry? Some lip quiverage.

32Hamlet (Kenneth Branagh) (1996) I am a big fan of Shakespeare plays, and Hamlet is the best of those plays. Reason would have it that a movie version of Hamlet would be my favorite Shakespeare adaptation... and reason is right. This marvelous adaptation from director Kenneth Branagh is 4 hours long. With extravagant sets, fantastically shot and strong performances by the cast, this is the best Hamlet adaptation I have seen. Though that isn't all too hard, as the other two versions I have seen are the horrendous Mel Gibson version and then the even more horrendous Ethan Hawke version. Favorite Scene: Fencing for honor How hard did I cry? A touch a touch I do confess (anyone pick up on that?)

31The Elephant Man (1980) David Lynch is a director I... kind of hate. Imagine my surprise when I found out he directed this masterpiece. Unlike most of his other work, this movie doesn't require a thesis to enjoy. The Elephant Man is a touching and sad story about a disfigured man who wishes to live out his life normally. John Hurt turns a role that definitely deserved its oscar, and Hopkins is also good right along side of him. Shot in black and white, that's probably the best decision. It feels more real that way. Who knows what the makeup would have looked like in color. A great film. Lynch's best... and maybe only good film. Favorite Scene: Everyone's... I AM NOT AN ANIMAL! How hard did I cry? A bit.

I don't get how Donnie Darko, a "puzzler" of a film is in your top 100, but David Lynch sucks because his movies require a "thesis".

Because Donnie Darko is a film I don't have to read up on in order to get a grasp on the movie. I felt I had a decent grasp on it my first time through, with a couple minor things I was confused about, while watching Mulholland Drive, I had no clue what was going on near the end.

Basically I think Lynch tries too hard to make his movies confusing.

30Heat (1995) DeNiro and Pacino, together at last!.... again! Michael Mann's directs this cop vs criminal thriller that is near 3 hours in length, but what a 3 hours. One of the best crime thrillers around. The bank heist scene is perfect. A tense movie. Favorite Scene: Told you I wasn't going back

29.5Reservoir Dogs (1992) Quentin's best film to date. Like most of his movies, this oozes "cool." Probably has something to do with the sleek black suits they all wear. Favorite Scene: Stuck in the middle of you

29The Thing (1982) I normally don't like horror movies, and this is pretty much a straight up horror movie but is so much better than pretty much all the others. It's quite a gross movie, but incredibly tense. There wasn't much time spent watching the movie where I didn't feel worried. Even for the ending, which is not a cliched horror movie ending at all. Fantastically tense film. Favorite Scene: Testing the blood

 Re: KJ User's Top 100 Lists Vol.2 - Squee
28Insomnia (2002) Christopher Nolan does a fantastic job at adapting this police thriller, and with very strong perfomances by Williams and especially DeNiro (I actually believe he hadnt slept in 7 days!) it is carried over the top. A great crime thriller that is probably Nolan's most conventional film, but that doesn't take points away. Can't do the same thing all the time... Favorite Scene: Calling the wife How hard did I cry? Oh there were many reasons to cry, and I used them all as fuel for tears.

27Back to the Future (1985) What's not to like about this film? Parodoxes be damned! This movie is fun! The next two got progressively sillier and weren't quite as good, but the first was just about a perfect movie. Favorite Scene: Get your damn hands off her

 Re: KJ User's Top 100 Lists Vol.2 - Squee
26The Green Mile (1999) The 2nd best Frank Darabont adaptation of a Stephen King prison story. It contains one of the most emotional scenes in any movie. Hanks is great as usual as a prison guard overlooking "The Green Mile" deathrow cell block when a rather large, but rather harmless seeming inmate is transfered there who is rather myssstteeerioussss... They discover that he has a rare gift and struggle with what to do about that information. Can be quite a depressing movie, but also even uplifting (a lot like Shawshank!). Favorite Scene: Don't put me in the dark How hard did I cry? Real fucking hard.

25Rear Window (1954) Hitchcock's masterpiece. A very tense and claustrophobic movie, with a good performance by Stewart as the guy with the broken leg spying on his neighbors. One of whom... might have commited... A MURDER! DUn dun DUNNN. Favorite Scene: I don't remember... Im sure it was real tense, though.
