I'm not saying it's not a feature film, but it has been cut up for short movies too. Also Disney planned to make new sequences and throw out old ones every now and then. They didn't end up doing that, but obviously they had an idea that Fantasia isn't thematically, visually, musically wholesome, but it can be changed. Fantasia 2000 only kept one original sequence I read. So while circumstances have made it a feature film (Disney didn't end up cutting it every now and then) I don't think it's too much wrong to think of the movie as series of shorts.

Nobody's disputing that it's a film. I just cannot be sure to include it in my list because I did not view it as a film. I viewed it as a short. You could equally just conclude that I haven't seen it. Either way, I don't care. It's not on my list.

Anyone who puts Dinosaur over The a Little Mermaid is wrong.

Ariel is the worst Disney Princess, and I normally love red heads. All she does is whine and complain and make others suffer for her mistakes. A do-nothing bitch well past the age where DNBs were acceptable heroes. When does the movie give me any reason to believe that becoming human will make her happy and not just start whining about something else?

If you’re just judging it by songs though, then yeah it is one of the greats. “Part Of Your World” is dope, it just deserves a more worthy voice.

It’s called suspension of disbelief. And if you think about it it’s more of a movie about parents letting go of their kids than of a child learning anything.

Well yes, Triton is the only one in the movie who has a real story arc. That’s part of why it is a C+/B- and not an F. And I had no problem with suspension with most of the others.

I also disagree with the retconning of this move done by the LBGTQ community. Ariel is not a “human trapped in a mermaids body”. She is just an annoying teenager.

It resonates with so many because people identify with her rebelliousness against her parents. There are plenty of movies dealing with how kids should listen to their parents, not very many about how parents can learn from their kids. And I do think by the end of the film, Ariel realized the error of her ways. But she still gets what she wants I guess.
