 Re: Top 10 of 2013
I was talking to the owner of my local art theater today when I went to see Enough Said and he was talking about how no movie has replaced The Way, Way Back as his #1 film of the year and it just boggles my mind how anyone can actually love it. I mean, the performances were fine and it was cute but it totally went in one ear and out the other. The break dancing scene at the theme part was so embarrassing. I really hate like sounding like a film snob, but it's definitely one of the more annoying movies of the year.

Can't wait to see Walter Mitty. Saw the trailer the first time before Rush and it looks amazing.

It's been a pretty bad year so far. I've a lot to still see, though. This Top 10 is good, obviously, but there are a lot of bad films this year (many Fs).

I hope you can see Trance, Captain Phillips, At Any Price, and Redemption soon. I am particularly interested to hear your thoughts on those films.

I've wanted to see At Any Price since seeing the trailer. It looked good and interesting. That's the Dennis Quaid one, right? Trance doesn't interest me because of McAvoy. Not heard of Redemption, and I obviously am wanting to see Captain Phillips, it looks awesome like Greengrass's others.

 Re: Top 10 of 2013
Even if you aren't a fan of McAvoy, have you enjoyed any of Danny Boyle's films in the past? Do you hate McAvoy to the extent you cannot enjoy a film with him in it?
Redemption is Hummingbird, Statham's London revenge drama, and the directorial debut of the writer of Eastern Promises.

Redemption is Hummingbird, Statham's London revenge drama, and the directorial debut of the writer of Eastern Promises. I'm not a big fan of Boyle either. I mean, I like 28 Days Later, but that's about it. Shallow Grave is good, but overrated. I like Boyle himself, but his movies aren't what I'd cinsider great cinema. Regarding McAvoy, I do dislike him a lot, but I didn't hate Wanted and he's in that, so I may give Trance a chance, but the duo of Boyle and McAvoy doesn't fill me with confidence going in. Ah yes! I remember now. I've wanted to see Redemption since that first poster. I'll get to see that very soon. I'll make sure of it. I follow Statham's career closely, and try not to miss a movie of his. So out of the four you recommended, I will definitely see three of them. Not sure about Trance. We'll see. The fact that it's your favourite film of the year will probably get me to watch it eventually.

 Re: Top 10 of 2013
Hmm, I haven't done these in a loooong time. Let's see
1. Prisoners 2. Gravity 3. Side Effects 4. This is the End 5. Filth 6. The Best Offer 7. Rush 8. Star Trek into Darkness 9. The Sapphires 10. Before Midnight
This is probably my least blockbuster-y yearly Top 10 list ever. And it's a pretty strong list too, IMO. Just outside of it are About Time, The Lone Ranger, Now You See Me, Mud and 12 Years a Slave.
Coming up this week: Bad Grandpa, Blancanieves and Ender's Game.
