Re: What movies have you seen most often in theatres?
I want to try and make a list of the movies I've seen theatrically since I started going to the movies and how many times I've seen each. I hope I can remember them all. Certainly want to try before it's really too late .

ROTK - 13 times TTT - 9 Nemo - 8
Watching some movie twice (or more) in theater was something realllllly normal for me .. until I realized that I actually 'have a life'..

Dr. Lecter wrote: Interesting...so before the popularity of the internet and stuff, you kept a written list? Yes. It started as a written list. Then I discovered Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide and two other similar books and used those to mark the movies there. Obviously I had to buy the books every year to not lose keeping track. As the books concentrate mostly on US films (but not exclusively), most of the missing marked movies are probably of European origin. For example, some of the 60s Edgar Wallace films from Germany were released in the US or the UK and thus are listed, but many others weren't. I think I have seen over 90% of those, but because of similar titles and plots, I have only marked the ones I'm 100% sure that I have seen.

Re: What movies have you seen most often in theatres?
That's really cool.
I do have a list for all the movies I have seen theatrically, but not more than that.
I haven't started going to movie theatres before the age of 13. When I saw The Mummy in 1999, it was the 2nd time in my life that I have been to a movie theatres. Since 1999 then I have seen a movie at a movie theatres more than 1,400 times. In 2000, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 I have seen more than 100 movies at a theatre.

Is there a difference between the degree of being a film fan if you see a movie ten times at a theatre or you just see ten different films instead? Because unless you have no life whatsoever, no job, no friends, no family and unlimited financial resources, doing both (seeing everything and many many times) is obviously not an option.

7x Titanic
4x Avatar The Dark Knight How the Grinch Stole Christmas
3x The Dark Knight Rises Armageddon Lethal Weapon 4 The Fellowship of the Ring The Two Towers The Matrix Reloaded
I've seen countless movies two times in theaters and I'm sure I forgot about some I have seen three times.

I saw Revenge of the Sith, Return of the King, and Freddy vs. Jason a combined 80 times in theaters. I win.
(Or lose. I do have a life now and rarely see films more than twice.)

I'm surprised you'd trot out anything as obvious as a false choice argument - - you're slipping Doc.

Slightly off-topic but still kinda related; but does anyone else here collect the tickets for the movies you've seen? It's another good way of keeping track of the ones that you have seen in theaters and serves as a remembrance as well.
I started collecting movie tickets in 2004, the year when I slowly started getting into films.

I'm collecting them since Titanic, I think. I lost my Bourne Legacy ticket last week and it angered me. This never happens.

Re: What movies have you seen most often in theatres?
Sadly I think the winner for me is Titanic with 8. Seven between 1997-1998 and once this year for the re-release where I learned (finally?) that the movie was a little it overrated. I blame this on being ten and having a thing (still do) for Kate Winslet's tits.
I'll always remember seeing it in Times Square in the now closed 1,500 seater Loews Astor Plaza. I remember showing up late and having to sit in the very front row of that completely sold out theater. That place (screen included) was fucking massive.
Nowadays you'd have to drag me kicking and screaming at least four times for me to see a movie at least seven times. There must not have been much out then for a ten year old to see.

Re: What movies have you seen most often in theatres?
I used to collect tickets as well - as far back as 1993 (The Fugitive) I think. Though I stopped sometime around 2001/2.
Ive never seen a film more than twice in a theater. Even then its only a handful of films (and for a variety of reasons):
94 Forrest Gump 94 The Lion King 01 FOTR 01 Ocean's 11 03 American Wedding (AP3) 03 Mystic River 03 ROTK 06 Casino Royale 07 Transformers 08 The Dark Knight 11 Senna
