Re: WOKJ'S Top 30 Animated Films
I think a lot of people saw Land Before Time when they were kids and had nice memories of it, and I wonder if people voted for it based on that...
...because seriously, I am astounded at its placement anywhere in the top 30.

Re: WOKJ'S Top 30 Animated Films
Well considering many people here were kids 5 years ago, that explains it.

Re: WOKJ'S Top 30 Animated Films
Yeah, Land Before Time is garbage.
Anyway,
#17: Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Ten votes, one #1, 5 top 10s.
#16: The Iron Giant
16 votes, one #1, 3 top 10s.
#15: The Little Mermaid
16 votes, one #1, 3 top 10s. It was, however, half a point ahead of Iron Giant.
Great trio.

Re: WOKJ'S Top 30 Animated Films
Ok, so the next two films are tied. Yes. Both got 14 votes in total, both were ranked #1 by one person, and both had 6 top 10 spots.
#12 (TIE): Fantasia
#12 (TIE): The Nightmare Before Christmas
And...
#11 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
17 total votes, 1 #1 ranking, 5 top 10 rankings.
Coming up, the top 10...

So looks like Pixar domination as expected. Shame Iron Giant missed the top ten. And South Park being so low. Roger Rabbit and Mononoke

#10 Toy Story 2
#9 Toy Story
I didn't make this up, I swear! Voting patterns are interesting: TS2 got more high rankings (10 top 10s vs. 8 for TS1), but fewer votes in total (16 vs. 20 for TS1).

By way of an intermission, these are the only films on the ballot not to receive a single vote: Millennium Actress Pete's Dragon Rock-A-Doodle The Polar Express

Monsters Inc beating both Finding Nemo and The Incredibles?
And we have Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and Ratatouille left. What else?

Re: WOKJ'S Top 30 Animated Films
ChipMunky wrote: Did you do the math right on the Nemo/Incredibles ranking? Of course. Different rankings have different points assigned to them. The Incredibles had more points than Nemo. This was the point system used: 0-1. 4.00 2-3. 3.50 4-5. 3.00 6-7. 2.50 8-10. 2.00 11-15. 1.50 16-30. 1.00 The rankings for Incredibles were: 1 2 2 3 4 4 4 6 7 8 11 11 12 12 13 16 For Nemo: 1 2 3 4 5 6 6 6 7 8 8 8 11 16 16 16 16 You see the difference, right? Every ranking above 16 gives the film more than 1 point, so those 4 sub-15 rankings for Nemo hurt it in comparison to The Incredibles. And those 7 top 5 rankings are killer.

Re: WOKJ'S Top 30 Animated Films
OK, it's late, so let's just get the whole list done with: #5: Aladdin
18 votes, 2 #1s, 9 top 10s #4: Beauty and the Beast
21 votes, the most out of any film (yay!). Only one person did not vote for it, heh. However, the film was not ranked #1 by anyone, and a relatively few people (9) had it in their top 10s. I find this very baffling and frankly disappointing. #3: Monsters, Inc.
This is borderline criminal. This isn't even among Pixar's 5 best films. But almost everyone (19) voted for it, it was ranked #1 by someone, and appeared on 11 top 10 lists. #2: Ratatouille
I guess the shocking thing is that it's not #1. It was fairly close though. 20 votes in total, 2 #1s, and 14 top 10 rankings. #1: The Lion King
Heh. I'd personally rank this below Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, but I suspected this would be huge. At least it held Pixar off. 19 votes in total, one #1 ranking, but a huge 16 top 10 rankings. Half of all voters had it in their top 5.
The votes:
1 2 2 3 3 4 4 4 5 5 5 6 6 8 9 10 14 16 16 So that's it!

Wow Pixar... I thought Lion King/Beauty/Aladdin would go 1-2-3 for sure.
