He may be a comic book fan but the last thing I want Kevin Smith to do is make Wolverine having fart noises come out of his ass
I wouldnt mind seeing Guillermo Del Toro take over

I don't expect the directing choice to be remotely similar to the likes of Tim Story or Pitof.
Whomever Fox hires, they will have a resume worthy of Xmen and it's built in massive fanbase.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to hear a much older director taking over, bucking the recent trend of younger indie directors.
Fox has a stable of directors who are very experienced in the action/adventure genre. DeBont, McTiernan, they may seem like odd choices but both have franchise hits under their belts for Fox.

I liked both X-Men movies a lot, but I think Singer can be replaced. James Marsden can be easily replaced also and SHOULD be. Famke Jannsen looks like she could snap him like a twig.

I won't miss James Marsden much, but Famke Janssen returning seemed pretty essential if they wanted to continue that one storyline about the Phoenix.
I doubt Halle Berry will come back, either.

Yes yes not a bad choice, Neostorm since Emma Frost I believe is around her mid 30s in the comic book since she runs a school for her mutants too. The last thing we need is casting someone in their late teens/early 20s for an older character. You hear that Bryan Singer!

It seems the whole Superman Remake from Bryan Singer has thrown a serious monkey wrench in on the 3rd X-MEN movie with Cyclops and Jean Grey NOT returning for X3 and because of that, it totally fucks up the whole DARK PHOENIX Storyline which I think sucks massive donkey balls and all because of Singer wanting to resurrect The Man of Steel which I could give a shit about... Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but I'd much rather see a 3rd X-MEN movie with these 2 characters and a continuing storyline of the DARK PHOENIX than a Superman movie without Christopher Reeve in it.. I've stated on more than 1 occasion that it is just too soon to be making a Superman movie after Reeve just passed away last year and is still gonna be in everyones thoughts when it comes to someone else playing Clark Kent/Superman.. I say it's going to BOMB and general moviegoers are not ready to embrace someone else in this role just yet.. You can either agree or disagree with me on this but it's gonna take some time folks before people are ready to accept another Superman..... Fuck this..
The loss of Famke Janssen is big, but honestly Mardsen never felt right for the role to me, he's 10 years younger then Janssen, and it shows..he looks more like a student then a teacher...and as an ator I find him ok, nothing special.

Oh, yesss! Perfect! I read somewhere (as others have, I'm sure) that Sigourney Weaver was almost cast as Emma Frost. That would have been good, but I can't imagine anyone better than Pfieffer.
How about Antoine Fuqua as a new director? He can do the action scenes and seems to handle character development better than many action directors. (Think Training Day and Tears Of The Sun)

Halle Berry should play Rogue. She should dress up like a rat for it.

What about Richard Donner, or is he semi-retired?
He's proven that he knows how to make a superhero movie, two if you count Superman II, which he directed most of, so I think he would be a good choice. Yes, it was over 20 years ago, but I think he can probably do one more of these types of movies.
I'm not the biggest fan of the X-Men series, but if he were to direct the film, I would see it in a heartbeat.

I like the idea of Richard Donner. Hes very underated and never gets talked about. And yes I think hes very capable when you look at Superman 1 and 2. Hes also able to handle large cast like in the Goonies and the Lethal Weapon movies. And no he isnt retired but hes a Warner Brothers director

True, but he has done some work outside of Warner Brothers. The Omen (Even though it's nearing it's 30th anniversary) was released by 20th Century Fox. Actually, his most recent movie (Timeline) was released by Paramount. So who knows?
It also helps that his wife, Lauren Shuler Donner, was the producer on the two previous X-Men films.

Famke is not confirmed leaving, just that she MAY be auditioning for a part in Superman. Unless she gets a part she's still free to come back, unless FOX acts like a jerk and punishes her for trying the other movie.

I didn't forget about Dick Donner.
He too is probably on that short list.
I really do expect them to go old school in their pick for director. They may be able to lure in a young hot screenwriter but then again, the screenwriter for Spiderman 2 is in his 70's.
So much for youth appealing to youth.

Joss Whedon is a possibility, as he's the writer of one of the X-Men comics right now. He'd be a good choice to at least bring in as a writer. This franchise is in serious trouble. They never should have let Singer get away.

Quote: Famke Janssen Back for X-Men 3With Hide and Seek opening in Australia on February 10th, director John Polson and star Famke Janssen talked to Australian TV show Today. Janssen confirmed that she's done filming Nip/Tuck and will next be shooting X-Men 3. While her character, Jean Grey, met a certain fate in X2: X-Men United, Famke previously said that "Dark Phoenix is part of that script... she's a big part of it." STORY
