On Driving a Ford.......
It's convoluted, but at the time(1950-60) having an American car in a foreign country was a sign of prestige.. Import taxes, lack of dealers/parts.. To own one showed a commitment to style.. Odd as that sounds about a Ford.. But hey if everyone else has a domestic(european) car(MG,MB,Fiat, etc.), then the rare Ford is a statement...
