I think BASEketball is better than As Good As it Gets. Along with a lot of other movies. In fact, I think As Good As it Gets isn't that good.
You might say *chuckle*... it was as BAD as it gets!

At least I know I can always count on Libs - she's the anti-Bradley!

Well fact is. Even when the first two got mediocre/bad reviews ...they have always been good money makers.

Both THR and Variety's reviews are assigned a score of 70 at metacritic, so finally two sites match for once.

As Good as it Gets might not be a masterpiece for the ages (it's not as good as it gets, heh... okay, stupid pun ), but it's a incredibly smart romantic comedy with great acting and a witty script, something that we don't see very often these days... really, when was the last good romantic comedy you've seen? (Libs, you can't answer this one... )
back to topic..
I guess critics need to pick the guilty pleasure of the season
(oh, and as for Bradley's rating, I predict a 4 out of 5 )

As good as it gets is a very retro film, plays into the old fashioned idea that women want to reform a man. Oh it's ok if the guy is a jackass, the woman will make him better.
Anyway back on topic, Tokyo Drift is impressing me with it's better than expected reviews. At least now I will probably rent it someday, which I wouldn't have otherwise.

I'm away for a week, so I only have time to see one new movie this weekend*, and it unfortunately it ain't gonna be Tokyo Drift, even though I've been hopeful since first seeing the trailer. And this is particularily the type of movie I like to see and review, before it is tainted by all you film sophisticates...
Nope, it's gotta be The Lake House - I'm a sucker for time travel movies, especially romantic ones (Time After Time, anyone?)...
(*Perhaps, maybe, hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in a matinee of Nacho Libre, too?)

I might see it, but it has nothing to do with reviews. Movies of this kind, you either see or you don't, you usually don't read the reviews beforehand.
And I predict a 5 out of 5 for bradley's rating.

I predict 3 out of 5 for Bradley. Just so he doesn't have to succumb to either side of this debate.

Ebert gave it 3-star. I wonder what's the last film that received fresh reviews from Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Ebert, and LA Times but ended up below 50% at RT.
The Cream of the Crop still stands at 65% overall with a 6.1 average.

Does he give any negative reviews at all? He is one of the only 6 critics so far to give Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties a fresh. Overall, the COTC appears to be getting lenient in their grades. All 6 critics come from there for Garfield.

It's not like Ebert gives thumbs up to everything and then writes blubbering nonsense in his reviews.
He's always got some reasoning behind liking a film. Sometimes it miffs me, too, but really, it's always there.

Except, perhaps, in his Garfield review, which is the weirdest thing he's ever written.

It's either slighty brilliant or just really really bad.
Gonna go with bad.

Eneded up with 38% and 54% COTC. That is actually far, far better than I expected. I saw around 20% in both...
