Re: Price
I'd be more tempted to include you if you weren't one of the fools telling us snobs that we don't enjoy watching movies. Though I think your vast, encyclopedic knowledge of film will certainly be useful. As with makeshift, provide a top ten from 07, and we'll go from there.

makeshift wrote: Price wrote: Top 10 of the Year (haven't seen much in theaters, will watch most of 2008 films at home on DVD, but from what I have seen in theaters, these are the only two so far that deserve to be in a top ten list) 1. The Bank Job 2. The Dark Knight 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.
Top 5 Directors 1. Sergio Leone 2. James Cameron 3. Alfred Hitchcock 4. Akira Kurosawa 5. Dario Argento (during the 70s and the 80s)
Top 5 Films 1. Aliens 2. Once Upon a Time in the West 3. Once Upon a Time in America 4. Forrest Gump 5. The Great Escape
Also, last 5 movies seen:
Nacht fiel ueber Gotenhafen Grizzly Man The Kite Runner 4 Months, 3 Weeks and Two Days Vantage Point While we wait for be.redy, we can move on to Price. Since you are incapable of providing a top ten list from 2008 of any merit, I'm asking for a 2007 top ten list. Your five directors are outstanding (forgiving James Cameron). You are the first person to mention Dario Argento, which is worth an untold amount of points in my book. Your top five films are a bit patchy. Forrest Gump is an abomination, and your inclusion of it gives me great pause. I'm okay with the two Once Upon A Time... films, and The Great Escape is also acceptable. This has been mentioned before, but Aliens is a questionable pick. Not because it isn't pretty damn good, but because it should be nowhere near a top five slot, let alone number one. This is another application I'm up in the air on. Provide a 2007 top ten, and I'd also like to hear from my co-chairman and the rest of the society before moving on. I like Price, but absolutely nothing above give me confidence.

1. Once Upon a Time in the West 2. The Godfather 3. Freaks 4. Days of Heaven 5. L.A. Confidential
1. Sergio Leone 2. Martin Scorcese 3. David Cronenberg 4. Terrence Malick 5. Hayou Miyzaki Appaloosa? I'm sorry, but I vote no. I don't care if the rest of the list was all Samuel Fuller and Rene Clair. No.

kypade wrote: everyone could see everything until about two minutes ago Yeah. It's true. I lied about lying just now. Nothing too juicy, unfortunately. I did like the strange voting process of determing whether to pick be.redy or Price. Or whoever said being cliquey FTW! or whatever. P.S. I have not been soundly trashed for my lists yet.

I'm hesitant to continue with the application process until we've got a consensus on be.redy and Price, lest this thread turn into an even bigger cluster fuck then it already is.
