The Shawshank Redemption - A+

Wow. What an amazing movie. I'm literally speechless. Powerful and amazing performances by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. The ending just blew me away. This movie is easily one of the best things I've ever seen. Just... wow.

 *crosses out Shawshank on Zingy's too watch list*

Now... go rent... Memento and Requiem for a Dream!

The Downfall (Der Untergang) - B+

Very good movie. Bruno Ganz playing Hitler was brilliant. What i loved about it, was that we saw it from the German perspective, which was different, as everywhere else (history lessons, history channel etc) we always get it from the Allies side, which is obviously bias. But i loved seeing it from the Nazi side.

People (Jews) say that Hitler was worse that portrayed in the film. How would they know? I think the image that people have been brought upto to think of Hitler, is rubbish. He has feelings like anybody else....i thougth the film was superb in that department.

Only thing i disliked was the commitment to the Kaiser. I don't believe it at all. I dont believe people could be that commited....but i may be wrong. Only thing is, how would they prove that they were that commited.... :???:

It almost gets into the 'A' grades, but i can't let it because, no matter how much i lvoed watching it, it didnt move me. Very good, though.

I thought i'd give The Godfather a second chance after being on my "worst ever" list and getting so much stick for it.....but:

The Godfather - F

I don't think i've ever been so bored in my entire life, especially after watching it twice and not liking it the first time. The only reason its not the worst film ever made is because it has Al Pacino in, and he has a good role. The only mildly good parts are the parts in Sicily and the part where Pacino (Michael Corleone) gets the gun from the bathroom and shoots those guys. The rest of the film is complete shit.....the part where Caan dies was laughable!!!!!

Brando with a sponge in his mouth...whats that all about??!?!?!! He is a shite actor, never liked him, glad he died in the first film, because i couldn't have ever watched the other two with him in them, i would have collapsed or something. I must say one thing though, The Godfather Part III is worse than this...... oh, shame.

The Incredibles- A

This film was a joy to watch from start to finish. Although its Pixars longest film to date, it never seems overlong or boring. The visuals are stunning, and beautiful. This is by far my most favorite Pixar film. It's not laugh out loud funny, but it is entertaining, witty, and very interesting to watch. The action sequences are very good, and I especially loved the final showdown at the end, and the scene when Mr. Incredible first goes to the island to destroy the robot. The film also has alot of likeable characters including the Parr family, and the hilarious Edna, and the very hysterical babysitter Kari. The thing I liked most about this movie was its message. It shows a mother on many occasions sacrificing herself for her family, and I thought that was brilliant. The score is really good here too, very upbeat when it needs to be, and slow as well. I hope they make a sequel, because I really loved everything about this film. It really had no flaws in my opinion. The pacing is perfect, and the story is as well. The characters are developed just right, and I thought the action sequences were spectacular. No other animation studio can come close to Pixar, they are without a doubt masters of what they do, and The Incredibles is no exception.

The Human Stain - C

Anthony Hopkins, Nicole Kidman, Ed Harris, Gary Sinise....sounds like a great cast, right? It is , but it can't save this turkey. Director Robert Benton made good movies a few years ago, like Kramer Vs. Kramer and Places In The Heart. This had potential, but Hopkins and Kidman are both miscast even though they try their best. The story lacks focus and never really seems to come together and wanders too much. My C grade is quite generous for such a bad movie.

Frida - B-

With this and Titus, director Julie Taymor demonstrates she is capable of stunning visuals. It's no surprise since she helmed The Lion King on Broadway. It's too bad the story is what is lacking in this. Frida Kahlo was a fascinating woman but after watching this I knew about her life but I still didn't understand who she was. That's not Salma Hayek's fault. She gives a capable performance. The real star of this is Alfred Molina who gives a strong performance and creates a stronger impression of his character. The cameos by Ashley Judd, Antonio Banderas, and Edward Norton Jr. are fun but distracting.

National Lampoon's Gold Diggers - D-

The only reason this is not an F is because of Nikki Ziering. She's just too hot to give an F to. Other than that, this is one of the stupidest movies I've ever seen. I feel just a little bit dumber now after watching this movie. It's almost as bad as Dorm Daze.

If I could describe this movie in one word I would have to say "Perfect"

It's just the kind of film that really draws you in, and makes you feel what these people are feeling. It's just so real and raw. I found everything in this film to be realistic, and I didn't think it was unbelievable in any way, shape, or form. The story is interesting, and its full of predicaments that I didn't see coming. For instance, the conclusion I did not expect, and was very shocked by it, but I thought it was a great ending, it couldn't of been better. The beginning is great, and the chemistry between all of the characters is fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the actors. They are all very impressive in their roles, and were casted perfectly. Natalie Portman is sensational, and definitely stole the show in this movie. Clive Own is amazing, and one of the best actors in the film. Jude Law is great, and many of his scenes were fantastic. Julia Roberts was great as always, but I felt her character was underused, and should've had more screen time. One thing that I loved most about this film was the dialogue. I just thought it was brilliant. It might of been a little surprising, and nasty in a way, but I found it to be used intelligently, and very appropiately. I just loved the interaction between all of the characters. My favorite scene was the strip club scene with Portman and Owen, it was very incredible. I also really liked the scene with Law and Owen in the doctor's office, that was just awesome. After seeing this film I want to see it again, and I'm sure I will watch it at least 3 more times before I take it back on wednesday, and I will probably buy it very soon. I knew beforehand that I would like it, but I did not expect to adore it the way I did. It's a masterpiece, and I just think the dialogue is some of the best I have ever heard in this type of movie. I am so glad I had the chance to experience the brilliance of this film, and it is a film I will not forget.

The Spongebob Sqaurepants Movie- B

I really liked this movie. I thought the plot was really lame though, and could've been a hell of a lot better than it was. We could've explored the origin of these characters, and could've met their parents, that would've been much more interesting. Reguardless of the ridiculous plot the film still works, and although its not a laugh a minute, it still has its fair amount of laughs. It's a cool movie, and seeing Patrick in fish nets is quite amusing. I thought the music was funny, and the song that Spongebob sings at the end was funny. Also, the bit with Spongebob and Patrick eating all of the ice cream, and becoming drunk from it was hysterical. It was a lot more mature and adult then the episodes on television, and I think that is why I enjoyed it so much. However, I do have a complaint. I thought Sandy was overused, and considering she is one of my favorite characters I was kind of disappointed by it. Mindy, and The Bald King were great additions to the movie, and I thought Plankton was devilishly delicious as the villian. The speech scene with Spongebob was funny, and I thought the Pirates in the movie theatre crying was funny. I thought it was a great way to bring the show to the big screen, and I thought it was entertaining, and very enjoyable overall.

Elektra- C+

The first half is boring as hell, and it was at D status, but then the action kicked in, and it got somewhat better. Jennifer Garner is great in her role. The visuals are stunning, and on occasion beautiful. The plot really goes nowhere though, and the story is laughable, but that is what to expect with a typical superhero film. It's nowhere as entertaining as the two Tomb Raider films. I cannot forgive this film for its terrible pacing. For the first half nothing happens, and the action is non-existent, and it tends to get very boring, and I didn't like that one little bit. I like action movies, that have a great opening sequence, and it starts off with a bang. This movie didn't have it, and even the ending was unsatifying. The action sequences are way too short, and you can hardly ever see what is going on. I thought the camera work needed major improvements. The final fight with the lead villian Kirigi was great though, and I loved it. This film was quickly reaching B- status after that battle, but after she just throws her sai and destroys the female villian Typhoid, it lingered at C+ status, and it never reached any higher. I wanted a bitch fight, and I was very disappointed by this anti climax. It's not a bad movie, but its nothing amazing. It is however still better than Catwoman, and that is good enough for me.

So happy you loved it! I knew you would. It's my favorite movie of last year.

Well, I haven't had much time to watch movies, well new ones. I've had a few rewatches ...

STAR WARS EPISODE IV: A NEW HOPE - 9/10 (A-)
RAISING HELEN - 7/10 (B)
THE STEPFORD WIVES - 7/10 (B)

OH! How could I fucking forget?!

PROZAC NATION - 10/10 (A+)
This movie was absolutely incredible! Give Christina Ricci her Oscar already, she was really amazing in the role. I wish this got released to theaters because then she probably would be nominated. This film is just so depressing. When the film finished I was just in the worst mood ever. Everybody is amazing, like I said Christina Ricci and especially Jessica Lange. Everybody, please check out this movie when it comes out on DVD (or if it's on STARZ again). PROZAC NATION is my number one film of this year and I'm sure it will stay in my top three. I know all you horn balls are just waiting to hear about Christina Ricci's nude scene too  It's not a very sexual scene, actually, the movie basically starts out with that scene. She's just sitting on her bed while her mother is getting clothes for her. I really can't say much about the film since I doubt many of you have seen it. If I had to compare it to two films, it would be THIRTEEN and GIRL INTERRUPTED. PROZAC NATION is definetely a must see!

Today I'm seeing BEAUTY SHOP and either FEVER PITCH or SAHARA :)

I did like this film and I really felt for Roberts role because she really play a woman who choise a unhappy ending. I found this pretty good I was very suprised by Portmans role I did not think she would do a role like that. BUt I weas suprised she still kept it clean and made me likke her more for it. At first I did not care for Clives role but after awhile I really started to enjoy his role he was a pompus ass and he did it so well. Laws role was good very good and it the end he got what was coming to him I thought

Alfi C-
It was an interesting film very very sad this guy had it all but he learned love was more important than anything.

Spanglish A+
God this movie was great! very movie Sandler was wonderfull he can do a real role  it was by far one of the best films i've ever seen.

Sideways- A-

Sideways is a great movie, but not the best film of the year for me. It has some great characters, and Sandra Oh was my favorite. The part when she was beating the hell out of Jack was hysterical, he deserved it, he was a dirty dog! The whole wine tasting concept was interesting, and I liked how it was portrayed. Paul Giamatti was excellent, and his role in this is impressive. Thomas Haden Church is okay, but I really loathed his character in this. Virginia Madsen is great, and I think she is a talented actress. The story is pretty good, and I really thought some parts were hysterical like the golf course scene, the Jack beating scene, and the scene where Miles has to get Jack's wallet. All in all I enjoyed it, and it is definitely in my top 10 of 2004.
