Anyways...

Van Helsing- B+

Horrible acting and mediocre story, but damn, it was a hell of a fun movie.

The Grudge- A

Scariest movie I've seen in a long, long time. One of the few movies that actually makes me jump.

Surviving Christmas- B-

Funny, but not hilarious. Definently a good Christmas movie, if it was actually released... during Christmas.

Great! Love the Grudge review. Can't wait for the movie now.

It has taken me a couple of years but I finally saw A Beautiful Mind... I know, I know...

What a powerful movie... A, no questions asked... Russell has just so much screen presence... Jennifer Connelly is good too, chemistry between them, awesome, story inspiring... Ron Howard is a great director...

Leaving Las Vegas - A-

That's the first time I have seen it and, man, that was a really good movie. I find it unbelievable that Elisabeth Shue didn't get the award for this one and that the movie wasn't even nominated for Best Picture. Both leads give the performances of their lives and the portrait of Las Vegas is amazing. It is interesting to see this city from this point of view. The portrait of the self-destructive alcoholic is successful as well. I don't think I have seen any single movie with alcoholism being portrayed as realistically as here. This is a truly good and mostly underrated movie that I recommend to anyone to see if they get the chance to.

Friday Night Lights

Wow, this movie was REALLY good. My second favorite sports movie ever, behind Miracle. Loved how it was a story of triumph and an underdog story and it attaches you so emotionally to it. I mean, towards the end it was just so exciting and I almost cried, man, so good!

9.2/10

not that good, but I've seen worse. The FX were terrible too.

The Silence of the Lambs - A

North by Northwest - A

I don't think I need to say much about those two. It's nice to revisit the two classics and relive the three conversations between Clarice and Lecter for the former, as well as the great moment of open crop field for the latter, where for 6 minutes nothing happened except for cars driving by, but the suspense was unbearable; so classic Hitchcock.

It was really damn good. It's very funny and also has so much meaning. The whole cast is excellent...Jude Law finally gave a performance that I enjoyed. David O. Russle is such a great, thoughtful, and very funny filmmaker.

Harold & Kumar go to White Castle - B-

The movie was decent, but somewhat overhyped, I guess. The reviews were splendid for this type of a movie, but to be honest, I felt like the movie didn't live up to its "hype" when I saw it. It was quite amusing the the both leads were great, but there were only like 1-2 TRULY FUNNY moments at which I laughed. Therefore, I wouldn't go back to this movie anytime soon. It was a nice watch, but nothing great or particulary hilarious.

Bride of Chucky- B-

I enjoyed more than the first time I watched it. While it can get very, very stupid at times, it's somewhat entertaining, and I can't wait to watch Seed of Chucky, even though it will be a comedy like this one. I was laughing during half of this movie, so there's no doubt that I'll be laughing during Seed of Chucky.

It was funny at parts with all the other movie references, but my gosh, that was the worst acting I've ever seen! Steve Martin, what happened?!

Red Dragon - A-

A really good movie. The Hannibal franchise is definitely one of my favorites (d'uh!). I like this remake much more than the original that was very unfaithful to the source. I have seen this movie for 3-4 times now and it definitely holds up after numerous viewings. I like it more than the original Silence of the Lambs (surprisingly my least favorite of the franchise, aside from Manhunter), but less than Hannibal which holds a special place in my heart. Ralph Fiennes is an amazing villain and I couldn't have found a better actor for The Tooth Fairy myself. Norton is pretty good in the role as well, although he sometimes seems on auto-pilot. Emily Watson is great and Anthony Hopkins is as always magnificent in the role of his life. Unfortunately there are not nearly enough scenes with him in the movie.

The movie itself is a very very well-made thriller. However, it even works as some kind of a macabre love story. The chemistry between Fiennes and Wtason was pretty good. The direction of the movie is good as well, but not quite up there with Ridley's and Demme's. What I really liked about the movie was the fact that it stayed very faithful to the novel.

One of the best scenes in the whole movie are definitely the opening ten minutes. Very well made, very intense.

Overall a good movie with excellent acting and enough suspense to keep the viewer entertained throughout the entire movie.

Bad Company - C

The chemistry between Chris Rock and Hopkins is simply not there. Neat action scenes sometimes (like the car chase), but still a disappointing Bruckheimer movie.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow: B-

-- Interesting concept, a fun film noir, but the story didn't make up for it. The performance by Gwyneth Paltrow was also very dissapointing.

Shark Tale: C+

-- Very funny at times, but also very boring. The excellent voice work and upbeat soundtrack just didn't make up for the lack of a story.

The Grudge: C-

-- Not scary in any way, exept for one brief moment, and that was simply because I allowed my attention to wane. It followed nearly every horror cliche, and even ripped a seen directly from an earlier classic (A Nightmare on Elm Street).

Taxi: C+

-- While billed as a "comedy" it came off as more of an overlong exercise in pathetic filmmaking. Not funny, except for perhaps one or two scenes. The story was interesting and original enough (if a remake is original), but the acting (except for Queen Latifah) was simply beyond bad.
