Hey Mike, what's the truth regarding gay people and acceptance? The way I see it (and please tell me if I am wrong here [though I would hope you also acknowledge that you cannot speak for all gays just as I cannot speak for all heterosexuals]) is that gay people say that want acceptance, and they say that being gay should be considered as normal as being straight, but really they love feeling special and "different" about it, because they take every opportunity to bring it up. Like, for example, the thread title. Why can't it just be Armie Hammer in Romance "Call Me By Your Name"? Why is it worthy of stating that it is a gay romance, and doesn't that go against what gay people claim to want?

I don't know. Just a thought I had when reading the title just now.

"Armie Hammer in Romance" would get much less attention. Sounds boring. Say I made a thread about the Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz lesbian movie Disobedience. I would definitely put lesbian in the title. It's a selling point. I know I myself would be more likely to click on the thread.

I guess I have to wait for Oscar nominations to be announced before this expands beyond a few major cities 4 weeks in.

It's in 114 theaters tomorrow. I'm planning to drive 2 and a half hours next week to see it.

That's pretty much impossible . I already know it's a very slow paced film so I'm expecting that. Seems like it's faithful to the book. I think it will be exactly what I'm expecting.

I thought it was excellent, especially the second half.

I graded it a *B+*, but just wish that I could have gone in to it with lower expectations myself.
