Rounders is very uplifting, in a diferent sort of way.

I can't find a movie I don't feel as realistic to be uplifting, rounders you have this story of a guy who goes through so much shit, tries denying who he is, loses his best friend, and throughout it all keeps a poker face. In the end he goes to do what he wanted to do all along, chase his dream, which is all anyone can ask for.

When I'm in a mood I tend to watch either a Christmas films or a Tim Burton film. If I'm in a particularly bad mood, then I might watch a Christmassy Tim Burton film, such as Edward Scissorhands or The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Add a few tabs of ecstacy into the mix and -BOOM- bad mood vanquished!

Definitely!

Other choices, for me, are Ferris Bueller's Day Off (fwwwwweeeee-dom!), Best in Show (because it pokes fun at every kinda person except yours...unless you happen to live in the South, single, and can name all kinds of nuts...), or As Good As It Gets (even though some parts can get me moody...overall, it's VERY uplifting).

Only near Christmas and the holidays

- It's a Wonderful Life
- Christmas Carol
- Miracle on 34th Street
- Bishop's Wife - Cary Grant, David Niven

The reason for the above Xmas movies is that the endings give you such a nice feeling - so more for the endings than the whole movie.

Some others that are less traditional and more for the whole movie.

- The Terminator 1 & 2 and True Lies - when Arnold was the MAN.
- The Matrix 1
- Indiana Jones 1 & 3
- Most Bill Murray movies - Stripes, Groundhog, Bob, CaddieShack, etc.
- Spider-Man 1 & 2
- Superman 1 & 2
- Rocky 1 & 2
- X-Men 1 & 2
- Most of Ripper's Avatars

More to come later as these are just off the top of my head.

All other versions suck major ass.

Colin Firth, wet t-shirt...I love that movie.

I like the two women they cast as the main sisters as well. Real beauties but not typical, so it was very convincing. The entire casting for that movie from Colin to their mother was excellent. What a great movie. Its about 5 hours long, I've seen it front to back twice, and in addition, the first time it was on A&E and cut up over several nights.

I love the women who plays lady Catherine De Burgh.

I won the movie, I have seen it several times and I have read the book alot as well. Elizabeth Bennett is one of my all time favorite female literary characters.

Agreed on the casting, because Elizabeth is suposed to be handsome not brethtakingly beautiful and Jennifer Ehle was just perfect.

hat movie is the best adaptation of a book into a movie.
