How many movies have you given a perfect grade to?
10/10, ****/****, A+...whatever grading scale you use...
Or rather, since some people are much easier graders than others, how many would you call a true "Masterpiece", nearly or totally flawless...
no need to list em, really (unless you want)...just curious...
also, l'm was originally wondering for those who have a "top 100" or whatnot, how many are perfect, or at least you rated perfect...cuz considering how many films there are, l could easily see some people having only A+ movies in their top 100...(l probably would, if l'd seen anywhere near enough films...)
anyway, just wondering out loud, l guess...
 :? : )

None, but if I had to it would probably go to The Notebook, Garden State, and Harry Potter 3.

For me, A+ does not mean perfect. It can mean ALMOST perfect, or perfect. This year, I would call Garden State perfect.
Of all movies, I'd say maybe 30 or flawless.

Flawless? I'm not sure. I mean, I'm an easy grader. Also, I go more by entertainment. I've given A+'s to movies that don't exactly have great stories or has really bad acting, but because I love them, it's an A+.

1, Moulin Rouge. It's very uncommon for me to give an A+ now, though if there is a film close to perfection, it's automatically in my top 30 or so.

I have given exactly one movie a perfect score: Aliens
That is the one film that i gave an A+ to. I actually don't give A's that often at all, total there are about 30 movies that have ever received an A- or above.

Same here.
However, I also use Yahoo's grading scale so an (A+) to them means "Oscar Worthy". I found 7 films this year to be Oscar worthy.

Ive graded many movies as "perfect":
Shade
Passion of the Christ
Collateral
The Last Samurai
These are the ones from the past TWO years, 4 in two years, i think thats pretty good going. Also, my top 5 Stallone's are also A+ perfect films, but they go back years!!!

Very few movies are flawless, most movies have one of two things you would change.

Well yes, but i (or people in general) overcome these things. Dont you have any film that youve graded 'A+' or perfect?

The Godfather.
The Godfather part II, but some of the scens were shot to dark (the DP onthe film has said this as well).
Pride Prejudice (mini with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle)
The Conversation
Dr. Strangelove
My point is that I don't have out he flawless masterpeice concept with ease. 3 of the 5 films I listed are Francis Ford Coppola films, he was the man in the 70's.

I consider movies that are 9.5/10 an A+ for me. I really dont keep track of movies I give A+'s to but I would say at least 1-3 movies each year I have given an A+ to. 2004 is one of the rare years I havent given an A+ to and I have only given 4 movies this year a solid A which includes Hero,Shaun of the Dead, The Passion and Spiderman 2

This year I had about 6 or 7 A+ films (which for me is flawless or nearly flawless). I'm pretty soft when it comes to grading movies, so usually the films in my top 10 each year are A+'s and a few A's.

It's hard for me to rate perfect movies. If one of my loved movies has a "cringe" moment, there are other very lofty moments that cancel out the cringe. If one of my loved movies has no cringe moments, there's not usually lofty moments either.
List of near-perfect movies, not in any order:
The Hunt for Red October
Ben-Hur
Braveheart
Aliens (2)
FotR
The Matrix (1)
Beauty and Beast (Disney version)
The Terminator (1)
RotK almost makes the list.

Only one: The Empire Strikes Back
It is only one of four movies that I have given a 95% or above. I hardly ever give very high grades, but I also hardly ever give very low grades. 75% of the movies I have seen have a B- to B+ grade.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy all receive A+. Spider-Man, as well. I loved Spider-Man. Something about it clicked with me entirely. I also would give A+'s to The Lion King, Forrest Gump, Toy Story, The X-Files: Fight the Future (sorry, I'm an "X-Phile", so don't blame me), and recent films, Shaun of the Dead and Saw.
