This forum needed a name change, I suppose, but I don't think every forum does. We don't want to get to the point where the newbies can't tell which is the DVD forum because it's called Vagina!. :razz:

I once had a terrible interview for a part-time job at The Disney Store while I was at college. I remember being offended by the bizarre role play games they insisted on and sadly sabotaged any chance of a job I might've had (I could've really used that job as well... stupid pride!).

During my brief time inside the Disney Store, I was told to refer to the stock room and office area as "Backstage!". It was forbidden to refer to it as anything else. Also, the employees weren't sales assistants, they were "crew-members!". The odd thing is, this wasn't done to suspend disbelief for the customers. It was done entirely for the staff's benefit. As if, calling the stock room "Backstage!" would make you feel a little better when you were stuck there shrink-wrapping Mickey Mouse figures, or saying "I'm a crew-member!" would make you seem cooler to all of your friends.

My point is, call the movie forum "Cinemania!" as much as you like. But it's just a movie forum. There's no mania. There's barely even a hum of excitement most times. No one new is going to join the boards on the strength of the forum names, and no one's going to leave because the forum names aren't exciting enough. It's a useless alteration that only succeeds in making you wonder whether the forum's going to be about movies or about that documentary called "Cinemania" that was released a couple of years ago.

Let the posters give the forums their character. Don't rely on a few cheesy puns and alliteration. Calling Literature "Bombastically boombastic Book Banter! Kaboom!!" won't make more people post in a thread about Dostoevsky, so why cheapen it?

I have no idea why I'm getting so het up about all this. I don't even really care, truth be told!

It just really ticks me off!!!!
