 Discarded FvJvA treatment
http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/index. ... e=newsfull
Yeah, so this is what New Line would have formed a script off of had Sam Raimi agreed to Freddy vs Jason vs Ash. I haven't read it yet, but I wanted to get it up here for you guys to check it out. I'll read it soon and have some comments.

Well, I just read through it, and it's pretty much exactly what you would expect: a conglomeration of fanboy wet dreams. In all honesty, I don't see any way that this could be successfully made into a film. Sure, it has some really cool ideas, but when you cut through all the fanboy hype bullshit, it's a total mess. After reading this, i'm glad Sam Raimi pulled out at the last minute. It would have been really, really though to pull this one off and have it be actually good. The sad thing here is that, even though I didin't particularly like the treatment, there is little to no way to improve on it. I hope that makes some sort of sense.

Ok.
First, one of the worst treatments I've ever read. Lots of mistakes in it. I wonder what New Line brass, if any, read it.
Second, you know you have your work cut out for you in terms of story when one of two main characters exist almost solely in the others mind.
There are a few cool moments, almost all within the S-Mart. But that treatment, that entire concept, DOA.

I agree with everything you said, espically the second point. It would be pretty much impossible to make the whole Freddy living inside Jason's head thing work in a film.
It's weird. When I first heard the concept, I thought it could work. After reading this treatment, there is just no way.

I'd say that for what this movie would (and should) be- a mindless popcorn flick with bloody scares and fanboy orgasm producing moments- this script is not half bad

What fanboy orgasm moment in the treatment are you referring to?

"Mister, I'm going to have to ask you to leave the store."
I've e-mailed Jeff Katz in the hopes he'll let me turn this into a screenplay, simply for fan purposes. He's the New Line executive who wrote the treatment.

At first glance, one of these series might think cool. Cool moments.
But, once really reading it and really thinking about it, it is really terrible. I am sorry, but this is really bad and I am glad it didnt get made. It would not translate well to the screen at all. It would have been a complete travisty to all 3 series. These series are all in enough trouble as it is to begin with.
I prefer these series to be overhauled with better writers, directors, and stories. Darker storylines as well. Not pg-13 Like Disney Channel films/Sci Fi Specials. It's the only way to continue their one famous successes. No one wants another Jason X. People will support the characters still (as FVJ proved). You just have to give them something to be interested in and dont release sequel after sequel year after year.
Take some time, find someone who can give a good idea and story, take the time to make the movie (enough negative pickup shoe string budget nonsense), and you might have a chance at actually reviving a franchise.
I already thought the script for Freddy vs Jason wasnt very good (it was ok, but was more in tone with both series originally during the first drafts) before the movie was even made. It translated even worse to screen as they took whatever creativity and good ideas the script did have out it. The script was about a C quality. What translated to screen was D-/F+ quailty. Some good ideas the script did have that never made it to screen. The script was in a more serious horror tone like the earlier movies and followed those more closely.
1. The rave was a complete serious bloody massacre in a murder tone of the first 4 Friday movies. Pitch Fork Impalements, different variety of weapons, and just an all out bloody tone. Not the limp comic like style that was abrupty stopped in the movie.
2. Jason getting hit by a car and the ding dongs who hit him just driving away like nothing.
3. More character development on it's characeters including Freddy and Jason (exactly what happened between movies). Better characters.
4. Lori having Nightmares of being on the Crystal Lake dock, seeing a bloody body bagged ghost in her house, etc.
5. Freddy having all the power in the Dream World and none in the real world. He had to find conventional ways to beat Jason in the real world. Freddy's massive strength in the real world in the movie made absolutely non sense and goes completely against his character. Plus the Martial Arts were just completely 100% stupid for a Horror Figure.
6. Better Death setups (The deaths in FVJ were very lame except for one). Not what I would expect. Plus Jason basically did nothing but use a machete the whole movie. Too boring.
7. A few various other things.
Not to mention the goons Ronny Yu casted. Completely different from what the script characters (Trey was the only one who translated well). Lori was suppose to be a Nancy like figure as a tribute to Heather L's character from the first movie. The characters were not as dumb as what translated to the screen by any means either. Some were still dumb, but these characters that translated to screen were just way too stupid.
So, I am glad this movie wasnt made. It would just take an already bad script and wipe whatever good ideas it had straight out of it.
