Then it was a step down for him as well, and I'm glad he moved back up the food chain. See. it's not that hard to call a spade a spade , even though it like pulling teeth for some to do it.

Mav is right, it's a step down in money, prestige, and visibility. Jackson is going from pleasing every demographic to pleasing only the geekboy demographic, which doesn't need much prodding to begin with.
If he can improve the quality of videogames, well that's a good thing. But that won't change the fact that videogames are just a niche market. And I have yet to see a three-hour network telecast of video game awards.

I wouldn't call it a niche market, not at all. The video market produces more revenue per year than the movie business.

Very well said. If only I could make a point so well.

and those SW games that came from him were some of the most AMAZING games anyone has ever played.
I'll give up one thing though .. yes it brings less prestige but it in no way says that you're downgrading your skills or anything like that. I'm talking about someone going down the tier in skill, not how people regard them in terms of publicity or anything.

I love how most people on here love saying their point is right without any explanation with their point, and love making others look stupid just because they don't agree.

The video game industry makes MORE money a year than the movie industry. Video games are also much larger production than movies. Normally taking many years to make as opposed to the average of 9 months for a movie.
It would be a step down for PJ in terms of recogniztion and publicity. But if he made a game equal to lets say Halo. Then he would probably make more money off of that than what he did in LotR.

LucasArts is an independent publisher. Never ever disgrace the name of LucasArts by saying that again, for the love of everything holy. God I hate EA.
Anybody who doubts that video games are a step down should go play through The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It's a short game. It's an easy game. And it really is a breath of fresh air from a true cinematic experience on the home console. A test of the power of that game: tI cried. It evoked the SAME emotions from me that cinema does. The number of movies that have achieved that same emotion from me: about 15, in my entire life.

True .. not just Prince of persia but also Splinter Cell. But more so Prince of Persia. That game was better than any movie i've seen in years with the exception of a few. I may speak with a bias for games but hey .. atleast i comment on them after playing them and understanding the video game industry.

I did play Prince of Persia. I gave that game up after an hr and half into it. I hated running around the walls. Just doesnt seem fun to me . Besides I never saw any videogames evoke any emotions the same way movies do except for the occasional jerk who stalks you on a multiplayer online game
I dont think anyone would want to see Ultima the movie or Everquest the movie. It spells geekdom way too much. I would rather keep my geekiness to myself than to flaunt it in the open with a game

By the way, does anyone think PJ got inspired to go into the video realm because he saw how his Kong logo resembled the Nintendo's version of Donkey Kong. Maybe he should recast Jack Black and Adrian Brody as Luigi and Mario
