 BROTHERS
At 2005 Sundance Film Festival, Denmark's big box-office hit BROTHERS won Audience Award(World Cinema - Dramatic). On 5/6, IFC films and Focus Features will release this movie in New York's 2 theaters.

The story line may make some people to remember "Pearl Harbor", but I believe that BROTHERS is a much better movie. And than, I like Connie Nielsen, so I am looking forward to see this movie.

Chances are, if its coming out of Denmark, its going to be nothing like Pearl Harbor. First of all, because limited budgets always dictate the how and content of a movie. Look at where Dogme 95 had its origins. Secondly, because Denmark has a very different outlook on being in Afghanistan than the U.S. probably did in WWII. Also, I didn't see Harbor, but chances are everyone was a good upright samaritan (or at least a misguided but well intentioned one) and probably not like Jannik, who just got out of jail and reverts to being an "acoholic deviant."
This looks like an investigation type movie, with a healthy mix of soul searching. Chances are a movie like The Sweet Hereafter would make a better comparison than Pearl Harbor would.

I have seen it. I like it.
Yes, this is a melodrama. However, it is also a very touching and powerful melodrama. I think that the ending is just right; it gives us the hope of the future.
Performances are very good. Both Connie Nielsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas do very well. However, Ulrich Thomsen gives the best performance of this movie; he should get Oscat nomination!
In my screening, audience reaction were very good; they were clearly moved by this movie (they even screamed at selected scenes).
PS: Yes, it is very different from Pearl Harbor.
