Kitchen Stories / Salmer fra kjøkkenet
Have wanted to see this little Swedish/Norwegian production since I heard about it on NPR in mid 2004.
A little charming film about the HFI, a Swedish organization that is paricularly concerned with building the most efficient kitchen for possible. As part of this study, they are researching rural Norwegian men to see how they use the kitchen.
Isak volunteers because they promise him a new horse, which he is probably thinking will replace his dying horse. But just as Folke arrives, Isak has a change of heart which keeps Folke tied to his cramped little trailer until Isak warms up and allows him inside.
It's a simple story of a budding friendship, and it is not melodramatic or boring. It doesn't have much of a plot, it's just an interesting little charming story.
Recommended.
