This seriously looks like it could be one of the year's best films if done right. I like the concept and the talent involved into it is just great. The movie basically tells 20 short stories of love set in Paris.

The directors are:

Olivier Assayas, Frédéric Auburtin & Gérard Depardieu, Christoffer Boe, Gurinder Chadha, Sylvain Chomet, The Coen brothers, Isabel Coixet, Wes Craven, Alfonso Cuaron, Christopher Doyle, Richard LaGravenese, Raphaël Nadjari, Vincenzo Natali, Alexander Payne, Bruno Podalydès, Walter Salles & Daniela Thomas, Oliver Schmitz, Nobuhiro Suwa, Tom Tykwer, Gus Van Sant

The cast includes:

Fanny Ardant, Julie Bataille, Leïla Bekhti, Melchior Beslon, Juliette Binoche, Seydou Boro, Steve Buscemi, Sergio Castellitto, Willem Dafoe, Gérard Depardieu, Julie Depardieu, Marianne Faithfull, Ben Gazzara, Hippolyte Girardot, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Bob Hoskins, Camille Japy, Axel Kiener, Olga Kurylenko, Li Xin, Elias Mc Connell, Emily Mortimer, Florence Muller, Nick Nolte, Emilie Ohana, Alexander Payne, Bruno Podalydès, Natalie Portman, Eric Poulain, Paul Putner, Miranda Richardson, Gena Rowlands, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Ludivine Sagnier, Barbet Schroeder, Rufus Sewell, Gaspar Ulliel, Leonor Watling, Elijah Wood, Jonathan Zaccaï

Here's the movie's plot summary from IMDB

Certainly, the film also has the potential of being a huge failure, but I have great hopes with a cast and a directing stab like this one. Certainly one of my most anticipated of the year.

Anyone else interested in this?

First trailer online...

Looks quite different from what I expected, but very intriguing.

Pretty sure you know I have been looking forward to it for about a year now. Think there's a thread on it somewhere at this place...or maybe just a bunch of posts. But yeah, should be amerzing. I hope. Kinda too bad so much talent dropped out, though, there's still plenty involved.

Will watch the trailer now.

Wow, that's pretty much eXACTly what I was expecting. Looks like the directors and actors did their job. Fantastic.

Now, whether it succeeds or not really is based solely on the producers, or whoever's job it is to link the shorts coherently. I sincerely hope they figure out how to do so.

Well, kinda, because I had read that one of them were directing a vampire subplot. I just mean in general, it's clear that there's no clear story, lots of different styles and such. And, of course, it looks great. Thats all I really "expected". And yeah, I'm intrigued as hell to see how the vampire part fits in. Nice to finally see Catalina Sandino Moreno again, too.

I've actually heard the vampire bit is one of the best ones in the film. Who directed it?

Yeah, I'm excited for this. Looks great.

Well they clearly made this movie in anticipation of my birth.

I will be first in line when it opens here!

Sounds interesting.

20 stories in one movie might be squishing it though.

Well, they're only 5 minutes a piece, and they all have a similar theme (Love in Paris, basically). Whether the film feels rushed or "squished" really depends on how they're linked.

I never heard of it, but I'm looking forward to it now.

This might be though the kind of movie best appreciated on DVD but not in the derogatory "Rental!" sense we usually mean.
