 Anyone seen The Dying Gaul?
On Netflix, I know DK's rated it a 1 (because he hates gays). But seriously, I want to see this SO bad. I love the trailer and missed it (not surprising) whenever it passed through the box office. So, anyone seen it yet? I'm getting the DVD sent over tomorrow and will post thoughts. Hopefully they'll be some comments when I come back.
By the way, here is the trailer...

Yeah, I saw it when it hit my local indie theater.
My review is on the main site, it wasn't bad, but I wasn't overly gushing of it either. I mean its not a bad film, but it was lacking from time to time certainly.

That's true. Indeed.
No, but the movie is horrendous. Acting's fine, storyline is off-the-wall ludicrous.

I like it though it was a littttle TOO dark for me.
The one problem I had with the film is towards the end some of the character's actions seemed to have no motivation, other than to use them as a device for twists and to shock. I kow its supposed to symbolize how evil/rotten hollywood is, but they could have found a smoother transition. The acting was superb though, particularly the always great patricia clarkson. I admired it quite a bit but its kinda hard to warm up to a film like that. B+

Quote: Overall, The Dying Gaul is an interesting, compelling, but ultimately dissatisfying film. The film leaves too many questions unanswered and as such the viewer is left with an empty result. However, this enough substance in the film to allow it to be a compelling piece of filmmaking. It is, at its worst, a mediocre film, and at its best a thriller that defies explanation.
The Dying Gaul is a Strang Releasing, Hole Digger Studios and Palisades Picture
