Kung Fu Hustle 2 Shooting Soon
From http://www.monkeypeaches.com:
Quote: According to the Taiwanese media, filming of the sequel to Kung Fu Hustle will begin in Shanghai this September or October and will complete by the yearend. Almost everyone, including Stephen Chow himself, Lam Tse-Chung (Chow's sidekick), Yuen Qiu (the Landlady) and Yuen Wah (the Landlord), will reappear in the sequel. Even Chan Kwok-Kwan, whose character died in the first film, will return with a new character. However, Huang Shengyi, who played the female lead, is currently trying to leave Steven Chow's agency and her chance of returning to the sequel is quite small. The action will still be handled by Yuen Wo-Ping and there will be more action sequences in the sequel. The budget is about US$ 15 million and part of it comes from Sony Pictures.

Ugh. Never let a good thing go as is. need to drag it out into sheer pain. You know we're in trouble when even the imports start being sequels. ;-)
I like a sequel on occassion. Especially serial-style. Set up for spy cases (james bond) or even pirate adventures (yay Pirates 2) but Kung Fu Hustle resolved itself and seemed like a complete story on its own. How they're going to drag this one into a new storyline is beyond me.

Bleh.
The first one was alright. I'll be skipping this one, though. I don't see a point to it.

well ... then again, both shaolin and kungfu were supposed to have sequels to begin with. I'm just glad Stephen will take his time before making it.

Goodness. Shaolin Soccer was supposed to have multiple installments? Whaaaaaaaat? This is the first I'd heard that Hustle was supposed to have more than one episode. What are they going to do? He already overcame all the baddies and discovered his inner power? He found love, he left his desire to be in gangs to work in a candy store. The secrets of the land lord and lady are already out. Are they going to act the same way then? I don't see where this could go.
