Saw it again over the weekend. It's even better the second time around, trust me.

I saw the trailer when I went to go see FRIENDS WITH MONEY, I think it looks absolutely fantastic.

Finally released in the UK this week, i've been trying not to read this thread too much as i don't want to tempt myself into reading spoilers.
I'll be seeing it later today, will post thoughts later...

I'm going to type this calmly, it was very very very good.
Screw being calm i'm going to gush.... i haven't gushed over a film in, well, a long time. I loved it! everything, the acting, the score (which was one of the best in recent times) the style, script, everything. I need to think about it for a while before i can actually make any sense out of what i'm typing, it's an instant A grade.

I actually saw this a while ago and while I enjoyed it to a certain extent I can't help but feel I'd like it more on DVD. I'm not familiar with the noir genre and saw it mostly for the cast (all of whom were excellent here) so I didn't understand most of the dialogue and several bits left me confused.

My favorite theatre on my birthday and I won't be there to see it.

DVD release is tomorrow.
Rent it. Buy it. SEE IT.
Read the glossary on the first post. It'll help.

I would have never guessed what "duck soup" was if I didn't read the glossary.

I would never actually recommend anybody I know purposely go out and rent this film. If they were to pick it up with interest I'd say watch it.
I'm being honest here when I say I feel this is a post-modern masturbation fest for emo kids who look like (or want to look like John Lennon) who want to play the strong, sensitive type and still be Humphrey Bogart on the side. Not particularly well shot. The glossary didn't give me much trouble in Brenden's case at least.
It is essentially a pulpy 1940s detective story, which is an okay concept in itself, it's just not very interesting underneath the surface of the gimmick.
The main actor, his name escapes me, did a pretty good job with what he was given, but the entire supporting cast was horrible including the girl who played Laura, who (as the stereotypical femme fatale) didn't exude much femme or fatale. And Lucas Haas as a drug lord? Please.
In reading the screenit review, it seems like whenever possible, people forget that there are hundreds of challenging high school films while they are praising the movie du jour. Let's be honest, these days there are fewer John Tucker Must Dies than Bricks.

Was not my "cup o tea"
Just felt too weird while watching it. Like a bunch of kids in a play, playing characters way older than they are.
