I don't even know who this "Mike" is - I don't think I've ever seen him post in any thread I've participated in...
Plus, I'm not familiar with the internal politics, I just want to see one of my favorite sub-forums well run.

When you asked "What's with flooding the Foreign and Independent Film sub-forum with all these new threads?" the natural response would be to mention Mike since he has created 5 new threads in a row.

Actually Bradley, the Indie forum was moved to a sub-forum after a great deal of discussion by both the mods and the regular members. We all agreed this was best.
However, I do agree that the sudden flooding of it with numerous threads is pointless. I always saw the forum as a way to seek out the best in the indie catergory. Being that I live in a suburban area, there aren't any indie theaters nearby, so I generally wait for the DVD. However, with the large number of them, I only get to pick a few to watch, so I rely on suggestions from Dolcevita, mary and other regulars in here as to the best ones. If we start having a topic for every movie, it will become pointless for me to try and sort through them.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was doing a bad thing. I just created threads for movies I was interested in talking about that were independent. I could have put them in the Cinemania forum but that would have been the wrong place. And since I wasn't aware of this forum right away I missed a ton of threads in it which is why I went through every page today and replied in certain ones, bumping them up. If a movie is one of the more recent and talked about independent films its topic should manage to be bumped back up. If not then it isn't that hard to look for it within the first three pages when you want to reply in it until you find it. It's just that a lot of the other threads weren't getting any new replies now and there wasn't much going on in here. I thought we could use some new movies to talk about. Maybe there should be a sub-forum off the "Foreign and Independent Film" forum now for the smaller independent films that aren't as well known since this one I guess is clearly for bigger independent and foreign films. Kind of like how Cinemania is for the bigger, more mainstream movies and the independent and foreign ones got shut out. Now that's happening again and yet another sub-forum needs to be created for the even smaller yet films. This forum should be called "Biggest and Most Popular Indies and Foreign Films" and then the sub-forum could be called "Smaller Indies and Foreign Films that Not As Many Are Aware Of."

That isn't what anyone was saying, rather just that there are far too many thread being created that it is impossible to discuss them all.
Ehh, its not really any of my concern anyway, I'll just have to sort through them some more to find the good films.

Well it seemed like that was what was being said. It's not like I'm going to keep creating thread after thread, it's just that since I am relatively new to the forum I had some I wanted to create that didn't already have threads going on. They are all ones I care about, it's not like I'm just making threads for every indie film I can find even if I don't give a crap about them.

Mike, I've noticed a lot of your threads are really similar and contain extremely long and drawn out reviews which are difficult to read.
If you want to discuss a few films on one day, I would collapse it to one target and make the discussion more accessible. Perhaps add a link to your reviews on a different site and cutting the quotes and distributor information.
This is just a suggestion, do not take it personal.

Yeah, Mike, don't take any of this personally, its just comments on some stuff. I do agree Andaroo that it might be better if the topics were easier to read.

They are hard to read?
And what do you mean my reviews? I haven't posted any reviews in this forum yet so are you talking about my reviews in the "Everyone's A Critic" section?
Anyway, I myself found the topics pretty easy to read and organized. If people don't know about the movie they are usually too lazy to click on a link to another site to find out what it's about and who is in it and when it's getting released. But if the info is in front of them they'll read it.

Mike, I would like to directly and personally apologize for calling you out without calling you by name. Let me introduce myself, I am Bradley Witherberry, and I'm a bit of a fan of the offbeat and the under-recognized. I have not had the opportunity of communicating with you in these forums (at least consciously)...
In retrospect, perhaps my comments regarding this sub-forum were too direct and undiplomatic. Nonetheless, I have found myself adrift in this forum in recent weeks, and reach out my hand to you as a fellow believer in the obscure. Let us navigate the shoals of this cyberocean in the spirit of cooperation. Together, perhaps, we can discover much...

Mike, like I said, nothing I said was personal. You contribute a lot, and that's great.

To be honest, until I saw Mike personally respond in this thread, I actually thought it might be some kind of forum-bot, posting thread titles in all caps, extracting movie posters and information from studio summaries from official websites, and batch processing them into this sub-forum...
I was wrong and I am sorry.

As it is, I don't have 3 hours a night to read through every one of your topics, and I'm sure others don't either. I think what we are trying to tell you is that we (well... I'll speak for myself) am skipping over your topics because there's so much data and opinion that I don't have time for it.

We agree on more things than this Andaroo. And its not just that they are hard to read, its just that we don't need a thread for every film. I don't know, the forum is sometimes so dead, I don't want to say ... "Don't contribute", but at the same time, it isn't a busy forum so it we don't have room for topics on every film. Like I said before, I usually search out Dr. Lecter and Dolcevita for more obscure films to watch in my spare time, I don't have time to sort through hundreds or even 20 topics looking for the good films Quote: If people don't know about the movie they are usually too lazy to click on a link to another site to find out what it's about and who is in it and when it's getting released. Yeah, but like I said, I don't want to come off as overly harsh or rude. After all, I'm not a mod, and if anything, this forum is Dolce's baby.
