I posted this in the awards forum, dolce, but incase you didn't see it there, I'm sure you will here.

It's off to a very strong start.

He will end up one of the final 5 I think come Oscar time.
Part of me wants to tell you that's LOTR fanboy gibberish, but another part thinks he's got a real good shot at it, considering the violent nature of the film. I can't believe he said this was the best thing he's been involved with. It's probably not a good idea to anger the hobbit community, so I doubt that he'd say something like that without some strong convictions.

Whats strange is this is going to be the third movie based on a comic book this year to get really strong reviews with both critics and audiences alike

I would say that most people, including critics, have no ideal that it was originally a graphic novel.

I've never read it, so I don't know. Haven't seen the movie yet, either.

There're no reviews or anything that mention this fact?
I ask because I just read the book this weekend, and while pretty great, l just can't see it translating well to film if it's a close adaptation. (Much like Everything Is Illuminated). I don't follow the news much so I thought maybe there was some buzz about it's faithfulness to the text (er...pictures?).

Wow! William Hurt was so awesome/hilarious! I know its a bit fangirlish, but at first I thought it was a miscast until I realized Croneberg doesn't miscast. He wanted that character done by Hurt and it was perfect. As was Ed Harris. The two stole the show as far as memorable characters.
Interesting...full review, I'm working on now.

Ah, I'd really like to see it.
It's only playing in one theater (Georgetown, ay-ay-ay) in this area, so I'll probably just wait until next weekend. Oh well, I saw a movie with my friend tonight, so apparently my husband wants to see Corpse Bride (I do too, but)...I also want to see the In Her Shoes sneak preview.
Haha, knowing us, we'll see both or something.

We opted for Corpse Bride tonight as well. There are some rather big things going on in Seattle today, and I didn't want to get in that traffic.

I have finally seen a trailer for it and it looks good (even though more mainstream that I'm used to when it comes to Cronenberg). Can't wait to see it.
