"TWIN SISTERS" trailer (Oscar Nominee-Foreign film
"Twin Sisters" was a big box office hit in Netherlands; it even got [Best Foreign Language Film] nomination at 2004 Oscar.
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0322674/awards
However, Miramax still shelves this movie for almost 2 years.
On 5/6, Miramax will finally open "Twin Sisters" in one Seattle theater with minimal publicity..... Yes, only one Seattle theater. ](*,) ( At least, "Infernal Affairs" and "The Best of Youth" were dumped in major market. ) Based on many reviews I read, this movie doesn't deserve to be treated that bad. If you have a chance to watch this movie, don't miss it.

Hey! Seattle is a pretty big movie market after LA, SF, NY, Toronto...
The reason why it's 5/6 is because it will be around during SIFF, the Seattle International Film Festival. It's not Toronto, or Cannes, but it's pretty big and pretty respected.
It won't be on the SIFF roster tho. (I don't think?)
Miramax is dumping all its films on the market, they are purging. I wouldn't be too surprised to see this happen all year.

Not all Miramax's movie are being dumped.
For example, "Bride and Prejudice", "The Chorus" and "Dear Frankie" aren't being dumped; all of those film receive good marketing campaigns from Miramax. (Miramax will also give "Deep Blue" a strong marketing campaign.) On the other hand, "Infernal Affairs" , "The Best of Youth" and "Twin Sisters" receive minimal marketing campaign from Miramax.
Anyway, thanks for your Seattle information. I think that LA and NY are much bigger markets, though.

They are. NY, LA, and Toronto are absolutely huge.
But Seattle is no slouch... it's just as good opening something in Seattle as is Chicago, Austin, San Fran, etc.

Actually, looks like a good move on their part to start drawing other big cities into the fold outside of NY and LA. I've always thought that opening in those two cities alone is actually a weak move. Look at what happened to Melinda&Melinda and Hustle. I'd love to see small movies get released in Bostob, Seattle, Portland, and of course Chicago, Philly, and Toronto on thei premiers. Might not generate as high an opening weekend per/theatre gross, but could be a smarter move for generating good wom in the long run.

Its final weekend number was a mere $1,207. Simply terrible. It might not even break $10,000 domestically.

We'll see. Sometimes I'll take a 1000/theatre pta in Seattle as a better indicator than a 5000 on in New york. Might still have legs. Depends on if promotion there was high, and where they chose to go from here. I'd do heavier promo and expand to one other city next year. Perhaps another west-coast one? I'd pull it across the states the following week very slowly. It does look interesting.

Even I haven't seen it, and I'm from the Netherlands.
Everyone who saw it, says it's a brilliant film.

This movie was gone in one week, and the total US gross is $1,563..... (It was never be released in NY and LA.)

This movie may not be able to become to huge hit in US. However, it definitely deserve much better treatment than it got from Miramax. (It is a Oscat-nominated movie!)

Anyone else think of Galia playing the roles of the little girls with her sister ... I did.
