___________________________________________________________________________
Won't be announced until January 5th, but I am very curious about how these will turn out.
Last year we had Nightcrawler, Foxcatcher and Gone Girl nominated here, but they didn't make the cut at the Oscars. Selma missed here, but got in at the Oscars.
Inside Out is only eligible in the Animated category, I think.
I'm predicting:
The Martian Mad Max: Fury Road Bridge of Spies Brooklyn Star Wars: The Force Awakens Spotlight The Big Short The Revenant The Hateful Eight Carol

I am hoping for Hateful Eight, but I doubt it

 PGA Predictions
PGA nominations will be announced on Tuesday. Any predictions? Last year they only missed Selma as an eventual BP nominee (they also picked Gone Girl, Nightcrawler, and Foxcatcher who weren't nominated).
Mine:
Bridge of Spies Creed The Hateful Eight Mad Max: Fury Road The Martian The Revenant The Room Spotlight Star Wars: The Force Awakens Straight Outta Compton
Carol and Brooklyn could bump out Creed and Straight Outta Compton. I'm also guessing the 70MM roadshow will win over some QT voters but I could be wrong. Otherwise, I'm pretty confident.

I agree with your choices except Hateful 8 , I dont see it getting much support. I think Brooklyn will take its place.

 Re: PGA Predictions
Beasts of No Nation The Big Short Brooklyn Carol Mad Max: Fury Road The Martian The Revenant Room Spotlight Star Wars: The Force Awakens
ALTERNATIVE: Straight Outta Compton, which would replace Beasts of No Nation
I wish they would recognize Steve Jobs and give its hurt-by-the-box-office campaign a shot in the arm.

The beginning of the end for Mad Max as it's revealed it's a critics film not AMPAs

 Re: PGA Predictions
Mad Max is a stone-cold lock for a PGA nod. Remember that the guilds aren't even remotely as exclusive as the Academy, and they also encompass TV players. Even if the stuffier Academy ultimately doesn't warm up to Mad Max for some reason, the guilds will still take it.

 Re: PGA Predictions
PGA can sometimes be cooler than AMPAs by nominating stuff like Star Trek and Skyfall or Bridesmaids, but it's not that common a pattern, 90% of PGA nominees are still regular Oscar bait, and they have another option to give the Star Trek/Skyfall nom to this year in Star Wars. If another "cooler than AMPAs" nom it wouldn't have to be another blockbuster, it could be something like Ex Machina or Sicario or Anomalisa, also, more like Nightcrawler nom than Trek
Mad Max was a film that in November was considered a longshot to be 8th or 9th Best Picture nominee with the saving grace being WB having to push something, because action movies rarely get in. The whole change in how Mad Max is viewed has come from critics awards which I'm not sure changes as much as people think it does.

 Re: PGA Predictions
I would argue that the critical support is actually a huge shot in the arm for Mad Max's awards chances. For the critics to gravitate toward a bizarre action movie from May when they could just as easily have gone for a safer genre film that was a bigger hit and released in October is a clear sign that Mad Max is staying in the awards season conversation. Even the Golden Globes, who love to play predictor, nominated it for Best Picture - something that they didn't do for The Dark Knight seven years ago.
Up until the critics and Globes came out for it, I was as skeptical as anyone about Mad Max's prospects. But now? It's definitely in the running for these guild honors.

Wow, no Carol or Star Wars. Brooklyn making in over Room is a great sign, and Bridge of Spies can breathe a sign of relief for now.

 Re: PGA Awards 2015 Discussion
Lol, okay, I am off the Star-Wars-train and gone to eat some early fresh-baked crow pie.
This is super-super-weird, though.
Buuuut, at least I was touting Sicario's chances for a long time now, even though I gave in to the pressure in the BP thread.
And, let me just say, TOLDYA about Room vs. Brooklyn. Room can still make it at the Oscars, but the film is SMALL.

 Re: PGA Awards Nominations 2015
This PGA nod for Brooklyn just makes the horse race between Larson and Ronan even more interesting, IMO.
Star Wars didn't even make it here when, like, Star Trek '09 did. And Ex Machina beat it to the punch. That does not bode well for a Best Picture nom.
Can Straight Outta Compton or Sicario get BP nods at the Oscars?
