Re: Visual Effects Society Awards nominations So.... Dawn of the Apes for the win? Or do they go more popular with Guardians of the Galaxy? (both had really solid effects) Any chance for an Interstellar win?
Also, I could see How to Train Your Dragon 2 winning here, setting up a potential dark horse upset of Lego Movie at the Oscars.
The nom for Grand Budapest really speaks to me of wide support/appeal.

The Oscars and the VES haven't matched up only twice since 2002: 2004 (VES awarded Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and the Academy went for Spider-Man 2) and 2007, when Transformers won the VES, but the Academy inexplicably awarded The Golden Fucking Compass.
It is Apes' now to lose.
