Re: Best Director: which film SHOULD win?
1. Linklater 2. Anderson 3. Miller 4. Iñárritu 5. Tyldum
I prefer The Imitation Game to Birdman as an overall entertainment, but I put Iñárritu slightly above Tyldum in recognition of Birdman's finest attributes, notably its sleight-of-hand visual presentation.

Meh, maybe Inarritu but I couldn't care less. Linklater's going to win for his crap anyway.

I'm fine with any of these winning, but the top two especially. Even Anderson I suppose. All three gave us something different.

Re: Best Director: who SHOULD win?
Inarritu Anderson Linklater
Inarritu was flashier. Anderson was gloriously cinematic (though I think what Inarritu did was slightly more impressive). Linklater was more of a manager. The film is really an achievement in editing more than anything else.
