Predictions:

Best Film
Inside Llewyn Davis
ALTERNATE: 12 Years a Slave
(I believe 12 Years a Slave will win the most awards overall, but they will give the top prize to a slightly more idiosyncratic, "hip" choice such as Inside Llewyn Davis or Her.)

Best Director
Steve McQueen, 12 Years a Slave

Best Actor
Chiwetel Ejiofor, 12 Years a Slave

Best Actress
Adèle Exarchopoulos, Blue Is the Warmest Color

Best Supporting Actor
Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club

Best Supporting Actress
Lupita Nyong'o, 12 Years a Slave

Best Screenplay
Before Midnight

Best Cinematography
12 Years a Slave

Best Animated Film
The Wind Rises

Best Foreign Film
Blue Is the Warmest Color

Best Non-Fiction Film
The Gatekeepers

Their Best Actress record is very unusual. At times, they will go for an unconventional choice such as Hope Davis for American Splendor or Rachel Weisz for The Deep Blue Sea (SO GREAT, ROBBED AT THE OSCARS). Other times, they will follow the overall party line of the season, such as Reese Witherspoon for Walk the Line or Meryl Streep for The Iron Lady.

This year, I suspect the former tendency will prevail, and they will go for Adèle rather than Sandra Bullock or Cate Blanchett.

Glad Stories We Tell won. :)

The Wind Rises is going to sweep the animated awards this year. A well-received Disney musical < the final film of the legendary Hayao Miyazaki.

In the least surprising announcement of the day, Blue is the Warmest Color won Best Foreign Language.

This is awesome. :P I'm thinking she'll be winning many awards. I really hope she wins her second Oscar. It would be so cool.

JLaw winning awards is good if only because it causes that moron Sasha Stone to have Twitter freakouts.

In the last four years, the BD winner also won BP, so this bodes well for 12 Years a Slave.
