Post Re: Gotham Nominations
So they are obsessed with being first to the point of compiling their nominations before they see every film? If they love American Hustle/Out of the Furnace/The Wolf of Wall Street/etc., will they cite them a year from now?

that's not so good for Fruitvale Station. Only nods come in breakthrough category. then again, this is a committee that award Upstream Color with multiple nominations, so they're fairly idiotic.

They also have a different committee handle every category, which makes for wonky nomination sets, like Before Midnight getting a Picture nomination but nothing for Hawke and Delpy. And Beasts of the Southern Wild got the exact same nods last year.

So, basically these are completely useless in relation to the general awards race. They look like a pretty decent set of nods though.

Really cool that Brie Larson won for Short Term 12. It would be cool to see her nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars, though I wouldn't want it to be at the expense of Adele Exarchopoulos. Not that she'd be nominated either, but there would really only be room for one performance in a smaller film to be nominated, if there's any room at all. At least there's the Golden Globes, which I could see going for both.
