Which film will win Best Picture?
Before we move into Oscar season proper, including the festivals in Toronto and Venice where many of the most anticipated films of the fall and winter will premiere, which film do you, based on instinct and intuition alone, predict to win the top prize at the end of the race?

Before Midnight won't for sure. You could replace that option with say Walter Mitty, which has more chances.

Re: Which film will win Best Picture?
The race is heating up for 2011. Will it be the homage to silent film, the lesson in early cinema, or the ode to art scenes past? Clooney as star or Clooney as director? Will baseball, civil rights, or 9/11 be the issues of the year? Do Malick or Fincher have what it takes? Perhaps a couple of Scandinavian directors - Refn and Alfredson - have a shot. And of course, never discount Eastwood or Spielberg.

Which Hollywood legend will die this year?
Never discount Eastwood.

Re: Which film will win Best Picture?
For now, I'll guess American Hustle. It looks fun, it's period, the cast is aces, and Russell has momentum on his side (even if he is still regarded as quite the asshole in the industry). But I think the only time I've ever made a wild-ass guess this far out and gotten it right was The Artist, so...

I'm really pleased with the fantastic response 12 Years is getting. I really hope it can snag a BP nom (along with tons of other noms).

12 Years a Slave is winning, and I don't think there will be much suspense in the end.

Re: Which film will win Best Picture?
Yeah, unless American Hustle or The Wofl of Wall Street are out-of-this-world terrific, 12 Years a Slave will probably take home Picture/Director/Actor/Adapted Screenplay.

Re: Which film will win Best Picture?
You read these three reviews and you just know that 12 Years a Slave is winning: http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/ ... e-20130831http://www.movies.com/movie-news/12-yea ... view/13460http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/review- ... -tiff-2013I see 11 noms: Picture Director Actor Supporting Actor Supporting Actress Adapted Screenplay Costume Design Score Editing Cinematography Art Direction The topicality of it, McQueen's previous strong record, the fact that it will probably be the frontrunner for Best Actor too... Just don't see how it can lose, even if American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street hit it out of the ballpark, they will still lack the "importance"-factor. Interestingly, I think that 12 Years a Slave might, in a way, cost The Butler its BP nom.
