Also the score is really good. Better than some of the nominees.

Wow...

I feel exactly the same. I found it average and I also found that the score was among the best of last year (actualy still my personal favorite of the whole last year).

Corpse Bride is worse than Wallace.

I didn't like Corpse Bride that much too, but it's still the best animated movie I've seen this year.. (I skipped Wallace & Gromit)

It sure wasn't a sparkling year for animation, but I preferred Wallace and Grommit (even though it didn't come close to Chicken Run's classic status), to Burton's shoddy storytelling in The Corpse Bride.

Still, happy to see claymation surviving in the age of cgi...

You have no heart.

Wallace and Gromit > 95% of the movies of 2005

I thought W&G was decent.

The score was the real highlight, though. I nominated it for a KJ.

Wallace & Gromit: B
Corpse Bride: C

I didn't actually like W&G as much as I was expecting to, but it was better than the yawn-inducing Corpse Bride.

I'd actually give them about the same grade: B-.

The Corpse Bride was okay.

I don't think I'll like Wallace & Gromit, especially if Lecter didn't like it.

Wallace & Gromit - B-

Do you have a little brother or sister? Watch it with them. Sometimes watching movies with little kids gets me more in the spirit... don't ask why.

I liked it, but it's nothing to write home about. Corpse Bride was stunning to look and listen to, but too slow for my tastes.

Very bad year for animated movies.

Aside from a few strong dramas, 05 was a mixed bag in pretty much every category.

I have a little sister, and I was going to rent it for her, but surprisingly, she didn't want to see it.

That argument has already been abused by Crash and Brokeback Mountain supporters, thank you.

I didn't think W&G was all it was cracked up to be, but I did like it a lot.

It made me laugh. And it was pretty zany. And I liked exasperated Gromit rolling his eyes at Wallace's puns.

You act all cynical and callous, but inside you're just a boy, standing in front of a computer, trying to tell us you love Brokeback and Crash.

Signature-worthy!

I mean, not my signature (I'm too highfalutin for such things), but someone's signature!

W&G was possibly my favorite film last year. Charming, funny, full of silly jokes and lots of movie cliche satires. I am surprised people don't like it. It was way better than Corpse Bride. CB looked better, but visuals are only part of a film -- story, acting, direction and so on is much more important.

Isn't it interesting, by the way, how with every studio rushing to make CGI films, that the three films nominated for an Oscar this year are all done with traditional animation techniques?

Hehe, well, not exactly "traditional".

Don't forget -- Nick Park has never lost an Oscar.

He won for "Creature Comforts" (which beat out the first Wallace and Grommit short)

Then he won for the next two Wallace and Grommit shorts.

There was no feature film Oscar when "Chicken Run" came out but if there were, he may have won that too.

The people who vote on these things love him. Trust me, he will win.
