So, despite two movies scoring more than 10 nods, it looks like no film might win more than three Oscars. Could it go like this?

Argo - Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Editing
Lincoln - Director, Actor, Supporting Actor
Skyfall - Song, Cinematography, Sound Editing
Life of Pi - Score, Visual Effects, Sound Mixing
Les Misérables - Supporting Actress, Art Direction
Amour - Foreign Film
The Hobbit - Makeup
Silver Linings Playbook - Actress
Django - Original Screenplay
Anna Karenina- Costume Design

Seven out of the nine BP nominees winning at least one Oscar...four films winning three Oscars each. That#d be a total 2005 repeat - Crash, Brokeback Mountain, King Kong and Memoirs of a Geisha also winning three each with Crash/BBM splitting BP/BD.

Hell, I could see a scenario in which Skyfall would walk away with most wins...

On the other hand, the Academy might despite to finally honor Alexandre Desplat - for one of his least remarkable scores - and give Argo an Oscar for its Score as well.

I hope Anna Karenina wins two.

I don't know what for, though. It might win none if the Academy likes Les Mis. I am thinking Costume design, but for Art Direction they might prefer a film bigger in scale. In the other categories, the competition is way too harsh.

I know it will not win score, but I believe it has a fighting chance for art direction and a very strong chance to win costume design.

Oh it's going to be one those Oscars again. When was the last time one movie won tons? Seems like years ago. I like those ones.

You prefer one movie taking all instead of rewarding a lot of movies? Interesting. Depending on the year/movie, I could go either way.

I hated the year Master and Commander lost so many awards it richly deserved because it was their last chance to honor The Lord of the Rings.

Also because in most tech categories ROTK was superior and in BP/BD, even if ROTK had not been there, Mystic River would have been the frontrunner.

Really? Cause I feel like the opposite. Like the last four years in a row, one film walked away with everything.

Hurt Locker, King's Speech, Slumdog, The Artist, they all won several awards and each had way too many nominations.

We haven't had a BP 3 award winner in YEARS

I find these years with the biggest winner taking 4-5 awards, boring.

I want more major sweeps.

No it didn't. I'm talking about one movie winning 10 awards. That's the years I love. But I wouldn't want that EVERY year. I like it when it happens, though.

To Algren,

Inglourious Basterds should have been one of those movies. But that turned out to be the year to reward Bigelow, not Tarantino.

Hmm, I was rooting for Inglourious Basterds, Up in the Air and Avatar that year, in all different categories. But yeah, I would have liked it if Tarantino got more recognition than one award.
