At this point it's incredibly hard to tell. The race is pretty wide open this year, which is a nice change.

Re: Which film will win Best Picture?
I would love, love, LOVE if Silver Linings Playbook won but I just can't see it. Maybe 12 years ago, but not in 2012.

Lincoln or Silver Linings Playbook. I'm undecided yet.

Les Miserables or Silver Linings Playbook.
Hoping Lincoln doesn't win. It's already overrated and the campaign has barely started yet.

It is Weinstein, so maybe they can get Silver Linings Pickup a win.

Not only do domestic drama (with or without comedic elements) rarely win, when they do there is something bigger at stake and SLP doesn't have that hook. It's a great movie and I loved it but I think people are probably overestimating it's chances because of Harvey.

Anna Karenina has about as good of a chance winning Best Picture as That's My Boy does.

Indeed. Hence the . It is a pity, though. It certainly deserves at least a nomination.

If I had to guess right now I'd say Lincoln. People are gaga over it.

Re: Which film will win Best Picture?
I don't think there's a thread for Golden Globe discussions so I'll ask in here.
What films do you think will be nominated for Musical/Comedy at the Golden Globes?
I think it will be some mixture of these:
Moonrise Kingdom * Silver Linings Playbook * Les Miserables * Best Exotic Marigold Hotel * Pitch Perfect The Perks of Being a Wallflower Ted 21 Jump Street Magic Mike Hope Springs To Rome With Love
I starred the ones I think are sure bets. I'm hoping by some miracle that Wallflower can score a nomination but it's kind of unlikely. I'm not even sure which category it would be pushed for. I think it's more of a drama personally but I could easily see them putting it in the comedy section. That's where they put 50/50, as well as My Week With Marylin. I'm kind of hoping they do push for Comedy as it would have no shot whatsoever in the Drama category.
Anyway, Ted was huge so it has a great shot, and so does Magic Mike as it was a hit and very well-received. 21 Jump Street too.

Re: Which film will win Best Picture?
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel Les Misérables Moonrise Kingdom Quartet Silver Linings Playbook
Alternate: Magic Mike Second alternate: Hyde Park on Hudson
Amusing the Globe aligned first and foremost with comedies, despite its dual name, is destined to go to Les Misérables, arguably set to be the season's most grim, even wrenching film.
