These are amazing. 8 for Drive!!!! :D Please let this get Oscar love too! It's been doing really well so far. I really think it deserves a Best Sound nomination too.

Great to see Elizabeth Olsen make it in for Best Actress. Maybe all hope is not lost for her. No Glenn Close. I'm thinking she's out of the Best Actress race. Reviews for the film are poor and most have been leaving her out.

Glad Fassbender and Mulligan made it for Shame.

Glenn Close is out barring SAG and Golden Globe nods later this week.

Another fantastic showing for Drive.

Extremely Loud made it in both Picture and Director here, which probably bodes well. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo didn't get in either though.

Another Melissa McCarthy nomination. IS SHE HAPPENING?

Glenn Close is officially out of the running, imo. Davis, Williams, Streep are all locked, and the other two will be some combination of Swinton/Theron/Mara/Olsen.

Here comes Extremely Loud.

Complete shutout for TTSS. How it hasn't done better in critics awards has become one of the big mysteries that I've ever witnessed in recent years.

Is Serkis happening also?

McCarthy will for sure happen. It would be impossible for her to get shut out at this point.

Right now I'm mostly on edge over Olsen. Really hope she can get in. A small film like MMMM can use all of the help it can get. Not long ago I felt Olsen and Dunst were pretty much neck and neck when it came to probability of getting nominated, but Olsen has clearly taken the lead as of late. I feel bad for Dunst as she's really deserving, but the Best Actress race is just too crowded this year.

I'm also really pulling for Drive to get several noms. Maybe then they will give it a nice little re-expansion in theaters that could take it to 40 Million before it hits DVD/Blu-ray at the end of January.

It would definitely not be impossible. Bigger snubs have happened.

Is Serkis even eligible for the Oscars? Unless they've changed the rules, the same thing that prevented him from getting nominated for The Two Towers is gonna stop him this time.

You can't say that at this point in time. We haven't even seen the GG and SAG nominations yet. Mila Kunis got all three (BFCA, GG, SAG) and was shut out at the Oscars.

I would love for McCarthy to get nominated but it's way too early to say it's unlikely she'll be snubbed.

I wouldn't even say that. She's still a comedic actress in an Apatow film. There's not a lot of precedent for her to get nominated.

I don't think he didn't qualify for TTT, there was just a lot of reluctance at the time about Mo-Cap performances. However, it's a LOT more common now in the last ten years, and Serkis is being heavily pushed by Fox right now. If another precursor vouches for the performance, he might actually be a force in the race.

And McCarthy is far, far from guaranteed, but if SAG and/or the Globes nominate her I think she's in. The comparison point for her would probably be Robert Downey, Jr. getting in for Tropic Thunder. Right now at least she's an awesome strong contender.

RDJ got in for a myriad of reasons, including the controversy, the buzz over his Iron Man performance, and the fact that Heath Ledger had the category so sown up that most other nominees didn't bother campaigning. I don't think McCarthy has any of that, unless you want to argue that Mike & Molly will somehow aid her.

It actually does, to a point I think. She's been getting a LOT of buzz this year thanks to Bridesmaids and Mike and Molly, and even got on the covers of Entertainment Weekly and Hollywood Reporter for it. Also, Bridesmaids was both better received than Tropic Thunder and also a much bigger hit. It stands a minor shot at getting into Original Screenplay, considering how barren it is after The Artist and Midnight In Paris, and a nomination there would help her even more. I'm not quite predicting her yet (To make any new predictions before SAG and the Globes announce is silly), but she's very close to the Top 5 right now.

Hmm, Hugo is really a strong force...too bad it's not having much support from the acting branch. It'll rule the techs, though.

Drive is REALLY beloved by the critics, but looks like this might not translate to industry love as seen by the SAG noms.

No Midnight in Paris Ensemble nod....weird. I'm also surprised at Margin Call missing Best Original Screenplay.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close comes alive at last and Daldry is being mentioned! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo...rather weak showing.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy completely shut out...what the hell?
