The characters are colorful, detailed, three-dimensional, etc. The dialogue rings true. The dynamics between the characters are always engaging and keep the viewer on edge. Just a completely rock solid, well-written screenplay.

It's a story about distanced people who are responsible for building an infrastructure which attempts to bring humanity closer. Yet the people involved still end up being isolated and never finding connection. Facebook as a corporation is known for distancing itself from the human/moral aspects of its business decisions when making large scale changes. So I guess I see it as fitting that the screenplay is a bit robotic.

There's no humanity in it when it clearly wants it to be this tale of broken souls. Also, the random speech Rashida Jones says is completely incoherent.
Sure, the dialogue is fast-paced and witty, but who cares when you feel nothing for the characters?
