 Best Animated Picture contenders revealed
- Alpha and Omega - Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore - Despicable Me - The Dreams of Jinsha - How to Train Your Dragon - Idiots and Angels - The Illusionist - Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole - Megamind - My Dog Tulip - Shrek Forever After - Summer Wars - Tangled - Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue - Toy Story 3
So only three nominees this year - not expecting a Kells-like upset. Going with TS3, Dragon and Tangled for now.

Re: Best Animated Picture contenders revealed
Would have been a good year to have 5 nominees so that the small films could have a chance.
This is likely a repeat of 2008, a Pixar film (TS3/Wall-E), a non-Pixar Disney film with smaller gross (Tangled/Bolt), and a DreamWorks production (How to Train Your Dragon/Kung Fu Panda), with Pixar winning. Despicable Me would be an alternative in place of Tangled, but when come to getting animated feature nominated, I wouldn't bet against Disney.

I'm rooting for How To Train Your Dragon and think it should win, but I think Toy Story 3 will win. As for third, toss up between Despicable Me and Tangled, right now I'd guess Despicable Me.

Should be:
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole Toy Story 3 3rd choice TBA - - waiting to see Tangled
Will be:
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole Toy Story 3 How to Train Your Dragon
(But ultimately - - who cares? Those idiots at the Academy didn't even nominate the best animated film last year!)

Re: Best Animated Picture contenders revealed
yeap, I've read the movie is pretty good, its bad point is the music, which I don't care, stop making musical and give as well-done animation movies, at least Tangled seems to be its best movie since ???? dunno, the lion king, maybe

Re: Best Animated Picture contenders revealed
Toy Story 3 is far far better than HTTYD, I don't see how anyone could think otherwise. Dragon was cute and funny and nice to look at, sort of like that girl/guy at the coffee shop you flirt with now and then and consider asking out. Toy Story 3, however, is mature and smart and beautiful and hilarious, and deep. The kind of girl/guy you ask to marry you. Also I think the aforementioned two and some combination of Tangled/Despicable are inevitable, but I'm still holding out hop for The Illusionist to sneak and mix things up.
To bradley, what was the best animated movie last year?

It was never released in my market).

Re: Best Animated Picture contenders revealed
should have been:
2008:
1. Wall-E 2. Kung Fu Panda 3. Bolt
2009: 1. Up 2. Ponyo 3. Coroline 4. The Princess and The Frog 5. Fantastic Mr. Fox
2010: (there should be 5 nominations, but as I wrote above, I go for the first three) 1. Toy Story 3 2. Tangled 3. How To Train Your Dragon 4. Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole 5. The Illusionist

Summer Wars should get the third spot. It has received several awards, in and outside of Asia.

So disappointed with only three nominations. Now MY DOG TULIP won't get in. If only there had been one more it would have brought it up to 5 spots.

The Top 3 still look good, but I think The Illusionist could be the one to surprise.

But which would it replace? I assume Tangled because there's no way TS3 or Dragon can miss with their box-office and acclaim...

I'd say Tangled as well. Not likely, but possible.
