Lame reason as the film is already out on DVD in the UK, thus it is already all over the torrent sites. Makes no sense.

This has been on the torrent sites for awhile. I think a little piracy would be a small price to pay for getting it more attention by getting it some awards recognition, which it now has zero chance of because they didn't push for it.

The chances of them releasing a statement proclaiming themselves dumbasses for not pushing this movie for awards consideration is low. Therefore PIRACY it is!

Unfortunately their excuse is made all the more pitiful when read by anyone with access to the site Google: Moon was pirated and put online about 3 months ago.
