It's not a bigger lock than ROTK (assuming you can't get bigger than 100%).

For the visual effects category, it sure as hell is. The one constant in all the early reviews is that the cgi is photoreal and quite a leap beyond anything before it. ROTK didn't even have better effects than Two Towers.

But Transformers was also a 100% lock and see what happened.

Yet everyone knew it would win after it was supposed to win BP and after two predecessors won Best Visual Effects and also after the competition in 2003 was pretty weak. As I said you don't get a bigger lock than 100% and ROTK's win in that category was absolutely assured, so...

It won't even be close.

I think Star Trek still has a great shot. The visuals carried that movie.

Haha, what about the list from the 66th Awards, which includes: Jurassic Park, Cliffhanger, and Nightmare Before Christmas.

Which movie do you think won?

See Avatar and then get back to me. It's easily as ahead of the other stuff out this year as Jurassic Park was of its competition.

Not more, though. Jurassic Park was revolutionary as well.

Oh and BTW where did you see Avatar so early?

I've saw the trailers and have no doubt the special effects will be good, but I do not buy the "easily" remark and I am sorry that I have not been able to see an advance screening like you. Therefore my perspective on your lack of perspective is probably irrelevant.

Anyone who saw Avatar Day should know that Avatar has this in the bag.

I wish. I'm just talking about the 15 minutes I saw on Avatar Day.

Ya that was really surprising. But you know what? It is much easier to do vfx for metallic objects than organic so I can see why TF got shafted.

I know my question wasn't serious either. That's why you shouldn't be telling others to see Avatar first as long as you haven't seen it yourself : ) I assume most here saw that preview as well, so...

I saw enough to know Lecter, and I'm pretty sure only a handful of people here saw the preview on Avatar Day. If most had seen it, there would be no one disagreeing with me.
